My wonderful boyfriend travels for work and it's pretty rare that we spend long amounts of time together. However, he'll be home for a month late August/early September and I am thinking (though we aren't engaged) that we may end up getting married when we make a trip north to visit his family.

This is my second marriage (even though I am 27) and to me committing to him is far more important than my ring. We really never have time to get one. I know I will get one, but it probably won't be until after I'm his Mrs. However, I really want to wear a ring showing that I'm married. I've thought about buying an inexpensive wg or silver band to wear until we can buy a set, but then there's this sentimental side of me that wants the ring he puts on my finger to be the ring I wear forever.

I've thought of a few options:

1. Wait until we have my set purchased (but I don't wanna!)
2. Buy inexpensive ring and replace it (which makes me kinda sad)
3. Figure out what kind of e-ring I will get and just buy a band that will match it

Idea 3 sounds like the ideal thing to do. The problem is that I have absolutely NO idea what kind of ring I will end up with. Some days I'm feeling cushion in a halo. Some days I feel a round solitaire. Other days round with side stones.

Ladies, help!

I love the idea of buying your forever wedding band now, and the big rock later ::)

Perhaps choose a plain band, that will go with absolutely anything you pick later on?

I think option 3 sounds like a great idea. Have you tried any rings on? I liked a lot of very different styles at first and then I tried them on in a store and it really narrowed things down for me. You could even go try bands on and switch around the erings to see which set you like best to narrow it down even further. Good Luck!

Ditto!

I think a thin plain band, then that little thin band will fit with just about any set you choose or you can wear the plain band when you are doing things around the house when you dont want to wear you wedding set with diamonds...I admit I regret not doing this when I got married, a thin band can always been worn or sized without difficulty....good luck with what ever you choose.

I have tried on rings. A lot. My boyfriend swears he knows more about diamonds and settings after 3 years of being with me then most women. The problem is that I LOVE diamonds and LOVE settings, so there are so many that I like. And also, at the end of the day I think I would just be 150% in love with whatever he puts on my finger.

Who knows... Maybe I will take the next month before he's home to shop on my own, so I don't have to torture him further. :naughty:

If you think you'll like anything, why don't you just let him pick something out and surprise you! Give him some pictures of what you like and let him go for it . He can pick what he likes best out of your preferences and you'll probably love it even more than if you just picked it out yourself.
