What would you change about your Ering?

We tell newbies to compromise thr 4 c’s in order to maximize their budget. I’m curious to know how many of you have regrets about your Ering? Or, if you are 100 percent satisfied, how did you get to such a blissful place where you don’t yearn to upgrade or downgrade?

Nothing.

Reason: Experience.
It's my fourth diamond ring.

I don't know. I don't think I'll ever get "it" right, because I always want something different. Mostly it's a budget issue. I have none, and I feel like I'm getting too old to even think about these things anymore. Mostly I just want to change settings. That's the part where I go wrong.

The only thing I would change about my ering is for it to be bigger - we just didn’t have the budget to stretch to 2+ carats when we were looking. It’s got a 7mm spread which is decent and I don’t feel like it’s small just that I’d love to have a bit more size lol

Oh man! Great timing for this... My 10th wedding anniversary is next year (Dec. 23rd but I'm already researching ahaha) and I want to do an upgrade.

I'm torn between 3 options:

1) Keep my center stone (1.01 H VS2 round) and do a major setting upgrade.
2) Keep a relatively simple setting and get a bigger stone (I have a good trade-in policy)
3) Get something entirely different like a nice 5 or 7 stone ring to wear alone

After the holidays die down I think I'm going to go to a store in person and look at lots of options and see what speaks to me. I'm all over the map... change stone shape? Change to rose gold from white gold? Do I want accent colors? I'm a mess haha.

I am 99% satisfied; sometimes I think of getting a different ring but I try them on and I prefer the one I have. I am definitely 100% satisfied with my diamond. This is my 5th diamond and this one is a keeper.

I wish we'd taken more time to find or design a setting that would play up the color of the stone better, we were just ready to be done with it.

Clearly you need 3 or 4 new rings.

I'd find it again! Lost my original one years ago and it still makes me sad....:cry2:

I wish that I'd been consulted, even a little! I love interesting settings, but I was proposed to with the plainest one my husband could find, apparently!

Everything! I didn’t have one :(

Same here. And, when I reset, I didn't change enough. I should have splurged a little more.
I'd also like to upgrade the stone a little, but it's a stone given to DH by his grandmother, so no upgrade policy available.
Oh, and I'm missing yellow gold these days.

Well I love Bea but wouldn't mind her being bigger...
The setting is just perfect though. Wouldn't change a thing about that!

Wish I had smaller more delicate fingers!!! You ladies with a size 4 or 5 have it made IMO.

Haha AM pic with Bea and Bobby. Tell me the truth, I mean doesn't she look small on my huge man hands? Yes she does.8)
But I still love her.

However I wouldn't say no to bigger.8)

Austina!!!! IT is NOT too late girlfriend. Let me help you and we will find you the moist beautiful perfect diamond...just say the word and tell me the budget. I will do all the legwork for you! :halo::sun:

Thank you @missy - one of these days when there aren’t too many other things to spend money on, it’ll be a date! :D

Right now I’m working on a new setting with rose gold, but I love my new diamond! I love her cut, color, clarity and size. Even though superideals are cut to certain specs, each one still has its very own personality. I have to say I like when the star facets are 77 or lower. I like fatter arrows. My diamond has fatter arrows and I love that!
I get notifications from Whiteflash when they get new diamonds in and they recently got a 2.9+ H VS2 in that was almost the same price (just a little bit more). It was tempting to upgrade for color but tbh, I love my diamond.
She’s just perfect!

My e-ring was pre-pricescope days. I have a pear and love(ed) it but my taste have changed to OECs. I love the history aspect of them
and that they look lovely in lower colors. Also, I can go bigger with a lower color pricewise and comfort wise because people will look at it and
see that it has a tint (and hopefully not make a big deal about it). 1 carat is large in my area so a 7.5mm (dream size) would be fairly large and
I dont want to feel uncomfortable when I wear it (if I ever get my dream size).:P2

Edit...I have to wait for a big birthday and/or big anniversary before I buy something so we're talking
like 4 years.:(2

I would have gotten a slightly larger centre stone because i love my setting even if its not perfect. The halo is just slightly too chunky for my grandmother's stone. But it wasn't in the cards to buy a stone plus a setting. So I'll just wait until I can get the beautiful sapphire i have dreamed of since I first started coming here later on lmao.

MM, just checked out your ring and it’s gorgeous, I love the halo size - the only problem is you didn’t post enough pics of it. :kiss2:

I don't think she looks small. What size are your "man hands"?
I've had a look at a conversion chart and i would be between a US 7 and 8. I call mine man hands too, if I haven't got longish nails or they're not painted they look manly. My ex-husband and I had the same size wedding rings!

As for me, I am 98% happy, but as it is an antique there is a tiny part where it is misshapen (due to previous damage) and there is one diamond in the halo that sometimes looks like it's missing but then it catches the light again and I see it is there.
I think it all adds to the character of the ring and the story it tells. Wish I knew its history.
I don't think it needs to be bigger, there aren't many people I know with bigger stones. :cool2:

Well thank you! I really appreciate it. Maybe I'll try to add it to the under one carat thread later on :D The only good picture I have of it was my photographers picture she got during engagement photos. I try to take pictures with my s8 and the details look melted. It's awful. Maybe I need to get ahold of a digital camera one of these days and see if that helps it look a bit nicer.

Good question @missy . One that I have given a lot of thought to as reading through this thread. I honestly can’t think of anything major I would change in my life. I know I am fortunate. I’ve been though the absolute heartache of losing loved ones, but I was present for them in the most important ways.
There are some minor things I might change (still can’t name any), but I am lucky. I am in a good place in my life and changing anything might have resulted in a different outcome.
Great query and I have enjoyed the responses and the thought it elicited from me.

I wouldnt change anything. I was 100% involved in all decisions and spent almost a year thinking through what I wanted. I already had a solitaire as a rhr and decided to get bands for er/wb. That turned out to be a great decision bc I would never change the bands but have already changed my solitaire three times and I know it will be upgraded in size again..! I am sure that if I had gotten a solitaire er I would have answered this thread differently.

Sandeek I think you responded in the wrong thread...I think you meant this response for this thread.

My ring finger is about a size 6 but that's not the problem...it's that my hands are large and my knuckles have issues and are big so that is more the issue for me. I definitely have large hands and when I used to play the piano it served me well. I am only 5'6" (and about 112 lbs) but my hands and feet are large and my arms and legs very long. So in comparison Bea looks smaller on me than my friends with lovely delicate petite hands. It is quite the difference and I do have DSS but LOL what can a girl do. Cannot change the size of one's hands though some girls here talk about liposuction I don't think that is possible for one's hands haha. And even if it was no thanks. I am thankful for what my hands can do and not seriously wanting to change them in anyway. Except my knuckles. I really hate my knuckles. :/

Omgoodness, oops! Thanks @missy I guess the week off from work is really affecting my brain! Or maybe it's the cold. Sorry to derail the thread!

Sandeek no worries...you didn't derail anyone's thread. (((HUGS))) and hope your work week is going smoothly. For me the cold is freezing my brain LOL.

Aw yes I understand. My knuckles aren't too bad, but I have big palms and my fingers are around the same length. So I don't have dainty hands, I sometimes have to wear latex/nitrile gloves at work and the ones provided are often a bit snug. I think my feet are average though, I'm pretty much average otherwise.
