I am looking at this on the secondary market...a site that cannot be named. I looked at it today and it is set in a ring. If I decide on this, how do I proceed. Meet at a jeweler?

She is asking $7500 which includes the 18K white gold setting that has an additional .50 of pave diamonds and a pave wedding band. I was going to offer $5000-$5500. I really only want the center stone. I was going to try to sell the setting for $500 or so. Thoughts?

Based on PS search, an EGL diamond of that color and clarity retails for about $5500. So on the secondary market you should pay about 50% of that in most circumstances.

The setting likely retailed for around $1300 and the wb for $1000, so $2300. Same discount in my estimate.

So $4000 tops for me.

Thanks. I got it. The ring is an A. Jaffe and retailed for $3000 (Just an FYI) and then I have no idea about the small eternity band.

Selling bridal mountings where you've taking out the center stone is NOT an easy task. Actually, selling jewelry at all is tough, but damaged used wedding rings are especially difficult. If this is an important part of your plan, make sure you've thought your strategy through. In many cases, the best you can do is scrap gold and even at todays prices, $500 is quite a bit of gold.
