just find something that''s special to you in some way.

and we are not letting the dj say "they have chosen this very special song by.....". i think that would ruin the whole moment.

We are going to do "Thank You" by Led Zeplin. We love that song and so sweet in an upbeat way.

Our first dance was several months later at our family reception, but it was Etta james, "At Last".

We chose or processional song based on a pure goofball moment, Chicago, "You''re The Inspiration". At the wedding of my cousin, the end of the reception came and the DJ played You''re The Inspiration, had everyone get in a huge circle holding hands around them, and then the DJ overlayed their vows over the song. It was actually really beautiful, and always struck me as the perfect wedding song. But, at the end, everyone ran at them to give them a huge hug - hence, the goofball moment.

Aw! That''s just the kind of goofy, sweet thing I would love at my reception.

LOL another great 80s love song! I should pick up that CD... Mad Ballads? All 80s butt rockin love songs! Love it!

Ok, I love The Beatles so the plan is "In My Life" - I think it is too late to change my mind now (this weekend is the big day). I can''t dance at all so I''ll just have to sway a little and hope the DJ only plays half of it.

I still don''t know if I''ll get to hear "Let it Be" during the ceremony or not (organist is MIA). It was played at my parent''s wedding and I''m pretty attached to it. Although it does usually make me cry...

I''m having a good time listening to all the songs everyone selected. It has been awhile since I''ve heard that Led Zeppelin song. I''m a huge 311 fan, but since I knew The Cure version of "Love Song" first I have a hard time not hearing it in my head when I hear 311''s version.

Are you asking about the first song that we''ll dance to?

I have no idea! Should I be thinking about this? It never even crossed my mind. We''re getting married on July 4th, AAAAAH!

We do have our processional and recessional songs chosen, though, so that''s a start, right?

Our first dance as a married couple was I Can''t Help Falling in Love With You by Elvis.

I love that song! Aw Haven don''t freak, you have plenty of time. Just think of your favorite romantic song and start listening around for one.

All of you have great song taste...many of these are in my car on CD.

Gypsy: Have you heard "At Last" by Eva Cassidy. I never thought I would like anyone singing it better than Etta James, but I really love Eva''s version. But then again, Eva''s version of "Fields of Gold" makes me cry because I just think of Michelle Kwan free skating to it after she lost the gold medal.

My daughter hasn''t figured out her processional song yet, so she won''t even think about her dance song. Keep up this thread so I can help her out.

Crapola, I just can''t help myself....

I also really love:
"You Take My Breath Away" by Eva Cassidy too....

No I haven''t but will as soon as I can find a version of it.

Beautiful! It''s a really lovely version!! Thank you for sharing that Miracles

It''s probably better for a beach wedding though...since it is acoustic.

I''m really scared about my daughters Fi might come up with since he''s a club mix/quasi-techno D.J. in his spare time.

Eva Cassidy is one of my all time favorites! I think Eva''s "Songbird" would be an incredible first dance also!

We''re such goofballs that we''re sort of considering the theme song from "Scrubs" - Superman by Lazlo Bane. It''s kind of fitting cause my fiance is really into Superman comics, and we''re both residents. Most people have probably never listened to the whole song, so I think it would be kind of a funny moment when it gets to the refrain and everyone realizes what it is.

Please tell me if you think I''m crazy though. I''m looking for opinions. I don''t want to look like an idiot!

Ours was "Kiss the Girl" from The Little Mermaid. It was the actual version from the movie with Sebastian the Crab singing it! We;re huge Disney fans, and Little Mermaid is my favorite movie, so it was fitting. Turns out everyone loved the song as well! We still get people commenting on the great choice, albeit one that''s not common.

Now I hear it on my ipod, and I just smile thinking about it.

Just hearing all these beautiful songs makes me tear up.

The most unusual song I ever heard at a wedding was, " I Don''t Know How To Love Him". That was years ago, but I remember turning to a friend with a puzzled look on my face. She just shrugged.

basil - honestly? uh... no. first of all when I think of dancing to "Superman" I just see people kind of bopping around swinging arms. how do you dance to this song? Otherwise, the song and lyrics are nice and we also watch Scrubs, but not for a wedding.

our 1st dance is going to be "The Way You Do the Things You Do" by UB40. it''s a good upbeat song to get the party started and then we can get a lot of people on the dance floor so we won''t be there alone with everyone staring at us as we aren''t terrific dancers.

"At Last" is actually going to be my processional song. have to check out the one by Eva Cassidy.

Eva Cassidy''s version of "At Last" is indeed beautiful, but I think the music of Etta James'' version is more suiting for the procession.

"Fishing" by widespread panic...its probably one you don''t hear too often, but its "our" song, so we''ll make it work

I have a few that I think we''ll end up choosing between
"making memories of us" - Keith Urban
"We Danced " - Brad Paisley
"Amazed" - Lonestar
"Everything Else Disappears" - Sister Hazel - this is the one I would probably choose first. But He''s not a huge fan of the band. My thing is, the band is a local band that went big. My family knows a few of the band members personally and I''m willing to bet we could get them to sing it there..... in which case I''d probably die.

I plan to sit down and make an entire list of the songs we would like played at our wedding, but those would be the options for the first dance. I would love to hear opinions. Everything else Disappears is not a well known song, but you can look up the lyrics online, and download it on itunes or limewire.

I wanted to add - I love that last song for the lyrics, they touch me to the core, and make me think of when I first met my SO.

We are dancing to Amrstrongs "Kiss to Build a Dream On"

''i will always love you''...by 311

That song was my first choice and then FI suggested "Waste" by Phish. I agreed on it b/c we both like Phish and it is fitting b/c we love wasting time together!

We had two but technically ours was "When We Dance" by Sting and the other was Trag u beskraju by Oliver Dragojevic who is a famous Croatian singer (DH is originally from Croatia)

At first I wanted to keep this a secret, but I only know one person on here personally, so I guess it's okay. "Love Rescue Me" by U2. The song is just so us. And I just love the rough, emotional way that it's sung, and the blues-y sound of the music. It's so perfect, and I just can't wait to dance to it.

(keepingthefaith - ssshhhhhh, don't tell anyone...heh
