Just curious...
FI and I have been tossing this question around, and I think we''ve decided on "Crazy Love" by Van Morrison. We never really had a "song", but we both really like this one, and I think there''s a Van Morrison/Ray Charles version (FI is a huge Ray Charles fan).

So what was your wedding song, and why did you choose it?

Ours is a cutesy song... its new... but I have no clue what the name is or who sings it. One of the lines is "I''ll buy you rogaine when you start losing all your hair... sew on patches to all you tear". It''s cute, upbeat, and only about 2 minutes long. It''s more our personality than something slowwwww. We both love to dance so I''m going to try to choreograph a "routine" that won''t look too choreographed. It''ll be foxtrot-ish.

Ours is "Come Away With Me" by Norah Jones - it has been closer to "our" song than anything else, I guess and we both really like it so there we go. . .

Cause I love the way you call me baby...." I love that song. First hear it on the Old Navy commercial.

Oh and our song is "God Blessed the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts.

It took us forever to figure this one out!

We are using The Very Thought of You by Nat King Cole.

I''m a huge Van Morrison fan, and we''re using Someone Like You. I also love Crazy Love and Into the Mystic, particularly, but I thought Into the Mystic would be a little hard to dance to.

Wow, love all of y''alls songs! Very creative

Into the Mystic was danced to in American Wedding. It was really cute.

Into the Mystic is our 1st dance song

I''m worried about the rhythm as well - as both FI and I have none....ha

I think it''s sweet if you just kind of sway to that song. Throw in a couple of spins and your golden.

We''re using Fields of Gold. It didn''t have any particular meaning to us - we just thought it was gorgeous, and relatively easy for us to gently sway to!

ETA: I love Come Away With Me. If we had time to figure out how to waltz, we would definitely have tried to use that!

we are using "Love of a Lifetime" by Firehouse. My fiance is a HUGE 80''s hair metal fan
20.gif
This was my compromise. It was the nicest, least 80''s hair ballad of them all

Ours is Sade''s "By Your Side." We had contemplated using it for a while but we knew it was it when we were in Poland this past summer waiting for our train when it came on completely randomly...and by randomly, I mean sandwiched between two European techno club/house type songs! I teared up right then and there!

We had ''Your Song'' by Ewan McGregor from Moulin Rouge.

our song is "Coffee" by Copeland, so that''s what we''ll be dancing to

. before my FI and i were offically dating we spent A LOT of time together working through things and this was was on my ''sleep to'' playlist and it was both of our favorites. the lyrics are/were especially fitting ("there''s a love that transcends all that we''ve known of ourselves, and i''ll wait for it to come") since we really took our time and took the relationship v. seriously, etc.

in fact i love it so much i think i''ll just post a link to it

At Last by Etta James.

We''ve been together for nine years. Engaged for MANY of them. So it''s fitting.

"it had to be you." fitting for us since we''ve known each other for 10 loooong years and broken up/reunited approx. nine million times.

Great songs so far! There will definitely be some Van Morisson played at our wedding even if it's not for the first dance!

We think we'll be dancing to "The Promise" by Tracy Chapman. I'm not sure how well known it is/ if you all are familiar with the lyrics, but the some of the key lines are "If you wait for me, then I'll come for you..." and "It will feel so good to be in your arms again where all my journeys end," etc... The song really resonates with us because I'm currently abroad for the year doing dissertation fieldwork in Africa and my fiance is back in the US. So, it's been hard on us but just knowing that he made a promise to wait for me while I do my research and that I promised I'd come back to him makes it easier (whoa, that came out cheesier than I meant it to sound, but you get the idea). We also take promises to each other very seriously- we make a point to never say "I promise" to each other unless we really mean it. So, it fits us in that way too.

Now, while the song is beautiful it IS rather slow and so I fear it won't be entertaining for our guests to watch (unless I turn on the waterworks which I'm prone to do when I hear the song- that might be entertaining in a different sort of way). But it will be meaningful to us because by that time, all the waiting to be together will be over.

i saw something on The Knot maybe. the first dance was "never knew love like this before" by stephanie mills, which i poo-pooed when i first heard it, but then i thought about it and listened again and it''s actually a very sweet song.

I think FI and I are going to dance to "Amazed" by Lonestar. I know it is used alot, but I LOVE it!

"The Best is Yet to Come" by Michael Buble. We have never really had an "our" song, and had no idea what we wanted to use. Then one day when we were returning from doing wedding stuff (its a 2.5 hour drive away), I had had my Zune plugged into the radio, and it came on. I looked at him and said, this could be it! We listened to it several more times, and decided we had a winner. One of my co-workers used to dance competitive ballroom, and she is going to help us and choreograph a dance to the song for us.

Our is "Turn me On" by Nora Jones. At first we thought it might be too racy but...we love it... and if people really listen to the lyrics it isnt bad at all! If anyone is a love actually fan (like me), it is on their soundtrack.

When She Dances by Joe Bonamassa

A few weeks before the wedding, I told DH that I''d been listening "Would You Go With Me" by Josh Turner because it made me think of being married. DH said "I''ve been doing the same thing!" and played me this song. I fell in love with it, too, and it soon became our first dance (and "our song"). :)

Here it is on YouTube:

I LOVE this song. It is slow but it is such a meaningful song :) I am sure people will appreciate the words too knowing your situation.

I *think* (we haven't decided 100% yet) our first dance song will be Moon River. We just love the song.

We used ''Groovy Kind of Love'' by Phil Collins. It just worked for us.

sunnyd - it''s grown on me. Considering some of this other suggestions, i was happy to take this song
