My 2 carat engagement ring which I adore! When I initially chose and tried my diamond on in the store, they put it in the temporary prongs which were thinner and lower, but when I received it, the prongs were thicker and the diamond was set higher:

Side view… I feel like my current prong situation makes it look narrow & smaller than what it is. One year postpartum and my fingers still haven’t totally lost their swelling so I decided to finally just resize and update my setting with narrower prongs for a daintier look with added oomph/“sparkle” from a hidden halo.
Here’s my ring inspo:

Here is the CAD I received with the inspiration for comparison. How do they compare? From the aerial view, the dashes around the diamond make it seems like the hidden halo is visible.. which would defeat the purpose of a “hidden halo”? I also told them to include claw prongs for a rounded finish and to have the prongs as thin as possible without sacrificing the integrity of the stones. My main want is having the diamond set lower with thinner prongs to extend out in a “v.” But in the CAD, it seems like the prongs go straight up. What do you think? Any suggestions on what to tell the artist?
