Hi all,
And the search goes on. I have learned a lot about diamonds in the last few days. My problem is that every time I learn something new, I have to go back to the drawing borad and find that perfect diamond. It seems there is always something wrong. So I ask....Is the girdle really all that important? What if a stone looks good, except for the fact that it has a extremely thin to extremely thick girdle. And how about the depth/table. Is a small differential between the two really not that big of a deal???
Here is what I am looking for:
1.5 or higher carat, princess ideal (or close to) cut, I color or better, VS2 or better. I don't want to spend more than $8000. Other than that, I am learning what is important. I just need to know if there is something really wrong with one or both of these rings that I am missing, and if so, what I should focus on when selecting a ring. I figure I am going to have to sacrifice one area, but what? I have found two diamonds I like...one on whiteflash and one on abazias. Here are the specs:
Report: GIA
Shape: Princess
Carat: 1.59
Color: I
Clarity: VS2
Depth: 70.2
Table: 72
Girdle: TN-M
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Culet: None
Fluorescence: No
Shape: Princess
Cut Grade: Ideal
Carat weight: 1.51
Color: I
Clarity: VS2
Report: GIA
Depth %: 72.3
Table %: 68
Symmetry: Good
Polish: Good
Girdle: ETN-ETK
Culet: N
Fluorescence: N
Measurements: 6.52-6.17-4.46
Any suggestions on where to direct my focus. Either of these look good? Both are in the high 6Ks-low 7Ks. I really appreciate this. I don't want the process of choosing an engagement ring to be a frustrating one...not the best way to start things off, right?
