I looked at a bunch on asschers with ERD last week. I found one i really liked, it was a G vs2...62% table 68% depth. My question concerns the idealscope, what should i look for when looking at a diamond under an idealscope? I am going back to look at this particular stone along with some other asschers that Gary has sourced for me. Thanks!

Are you seeing them in-person?

If so trust your eyes. Compare them together in different types of lights, find out what your rep thinks, and trust your eyes and your rep's opinion and don't bother with the tools.

If you're buying online you should still plan to have your final pick shipped out to look at, but obviously you won't be able to compare three or four in-person. Can they make you a video of all the stones in various types of lights, like GOG's videos? That would be most helpful to narrow it down I think. Beyond that if you want more info on how the tools can help you, and how to narrow it down online, search Karl_K's posts (he used to post as strmdr and was able to give more direct opinions before he joined the trade, so search posts under that name first :)) )

few things to look for...

diffused lighting: ie typical office lighting.
overall look .. is it bright?
viewed closer does it have nice patterns with a bright center?
now move it do the dark areas in the pattern flash bright?

With a well cut asscher on your finger turn your hand sideways and slowly rotate your hand.
You should see a play of light across the stone as the dark zones flash... if they don't after about 5-10 degrees rotation it is not a good one. The best will flash with very little movement.

direct lighting: spotlights and sunlight.
static: different size fire from different parts of the stone. No huge dark zones.

movement as above:
big flashes in the center and smaller flashes in the corners with midsized flashes around them.
Again you should be able to play the light across the diamond.

When you find a good one the moving show will wow you and you will want to play with it for a long time and it will steal your heart.
Then you know it is the one for you.
