Hi everyone!... I have a DILEMA that i would love some advice with. Ok so i got engaged this past december; he gave me a beautiful pear solitaire ring- which i loved. Now he told me that he put the stone into a solitaire setting because he wasn''t sure what i would like, so he told me i could reset it... and i did. I picked the ritani endless love with a halo which is beautiful, but after wearing it for a few months i''m panicking because it still doesn''t feel like my engagement ring And now i''m just wondering what my options are...The ritani is obviously non refundable. Its a custom setting. But can I take out the diamonds in the setting to make a wedding band? Is that possible? I would appreciate any suggestions at all... I have no idea what to do next... THANKS SO MUCH!

so would you go back to a solitaire setting or a three stone? you can use the setting as a right hand ring, and put a colored pear shape gem stone in it.

I want to put it back into the original solitaire setting.
I don''t think I can put a new stone into this setting because it''s a custom bezel around my pear... i can''t imagine it would be easy to find the exact shape pear as mine. So I want to see what else I can do with this ritani setting. Ideally I would like to take the pave diamonds out of the setting and make them into a wedding band( a single row of pave diamonds) Can that be done?

I don''t like the idea of ripping apart a beautiful ritaini setting for it''s parts

No chance you could get used to it? Let it grow on you?

If not I''d pop the pear back into it''s solitair setting and try and find a coloured stone with the exact right proportions or have one cut to the right size to make a lovely RHR.

How bout contacting Brian Gavin and see if they can take those diamonds out and make a new band for you, Hes done some custom work and WHiteflash also with recycled project. Sorry you don''t like the reset, that''s always a toughy. What you think you might like turning the other direction. I know what you mean and how you feel, I''ve done resetting three time in less than 8 months

. This last time I just gave them the ring and they gave me scrap metal credit towards my ring since I don''t have any sidestones.

The pave diamonds Ritani use in the endless love settings are pretty tiny, making it pretty difficult to reuse them. Sorry to hear your having regrets. Best of luck.

Thanks so much for all the help!... I know the Ritani diamonds are so tiny- but is it impossible to take them out? And would it be best to go through Ritani or try Brian Gavin?

Impossible, probably not. However I must say trying to remove all those tiny diamond without damaging them would be very difficult. Also, making an eternity ring using that sized melee is almost impossible to do by hand, and the likelyhood of losing stones would also be very high as you wear the ring. If the melee were a little bigger the project might be more feasible.

Just to give you a friendly idea about this potential project, I would not even want to take it on, and I am quite hungry for work these days.

Hope it all works out for you.

I would have a colored stone cut to fit the setting.

That could be a great idea!

Thanks so much for the suggestions!... I''m not really a fan of right hand rings... I think I only want to wear wedding set... could I sell it, so that someone else could reset it?

Sell the setting through Pearlmans as they carry Ritani and consign, someone will buy it.

You will lose a lot of money (hardly worth much) if you rip the setting apart. A lot of the cost is in the design and labour. Even when consigned, you will lose quite a bit of money, but at least you’ll get something back, maybe 50%. To save the most money, I suggest setting a coloured gemstone in its place. You don’t have to do it right away…maybe sometime down the road, you might change your mind and decide you need more bling, hence a RHR.

Thanks again for all the advice! I did call Pearlmans today to see about consignment...He is going to get back to me tomorrow... Because the setting is a custom bezel around my pear, I need to decide if it would be better to post the setting alone or to purchase a stone and then sell it... any opinions?

Are you talking about buying a different stone to set in it so it will sell through consignment?
Are you talking about a gemstone or another diamond...please clarify.

Also, the subject has been touched on in other threads about removing stones from bezel settings
and I thought the conclusion was that it destroys the bezel. Is this true or no?

I''ll have to go do some searching but I''m sure Pearlmans will let you know what they can do for you.

oh no, therese. i''m very sorry to hear about the change of heart. i for one really loved your ritani halo pear. i almost bought a gemstone pear to try to get a similar look.

but i myself have had two e-ring resets, so who am i to talk? do what makes you happy.
