Hi all, I have a solitaire pendant that my husband gave me for our wedding present. I don''t have the exact specs on it as it is uncertified but it is nice and sparkly. I''d say almost 5mm. I attached a pic below.

I never wear the pendant as I feel it looks small on me. So I have been debating on resetting it into the below. Please let me know your vote.

1. a simple plain bezel setting like the Barbara from BGD
2. WF''s halo bezel setting.
3. BGD is also looking to see about matching it to my preset halo studs that I bought from them as well. But I haven''t loved anything yet. I''ll attach a pic tho.
4. I have also come across a Bev K ring setting from Pearlmans that would run me a little over a $1000 with PS discount.
5. LOGR legacy knockoff ring

Now, couple things...I love rings. I have always wanted a halo but I am thinking that I might be better off to invest down the road in a .75 stone and try a ring then or do I use this stone? I currently have a 1.5ct princess e-ring and channel set princess wedding band in platinum. My RHR is a 1 carat total round ideal three stone ring in plat, which I love! So do I really need another RHR really???

Let me know your vote!

Oh here is my current pendant trying to be measured at home!

I don''t have a handy pic of the LOGR legacy ring look alike but I think you guys know what I mean!!! I appreciate your time to look and help me decide!

i *really* like that WF halo....

Thanks Whitby! I am definitely thinking a pendant makes more sense for me!

Oh one more thing...these are the earrings I bought from BGD. earrings link

I had asked to see if they could do a matching pendant but I didn''t love the one they sent over. Here it is. I don''t like the wavy edges and I don''t like that it looks like a jacket. I think I like WF''s halo better, but bgd is still working on options.

really interesting, lizzyann - i''m looking to have a pair of studs i already own halo''d like the BGD pendant you weren''t fond of. i agree - it definitely looks like earrings - and i love it! not what i''d want for a pendant - but great for earrings, and exactly what i intend to have.

go figger... :)

for a pendant, i think the WF has lovely balance and great workmanship. i''d be going that way with a half ct stone, and i really like stones that size in halos.

very nice!

Whitby, that''s funny! I can definitely see that style as earrings. The wavy edge makes them very *sweet* looking. I think you''re point of the WF one being balanced is what appeals to me.

I heard back from WF and they are looking into whether or not the chain can be switched out easily. It comes with a 16in chain but I''d like to be able to switch it to an 18in on occasion. I think they want me to go to a local jeweler and get exact measurements of my stone too. They sent me another pic. Here it is. I like the detailing on the side. If anyone owns this, can you let me know about the easiness of switching the chain out?

*very* pretty - LOVE the basket.

have you thought about an 18" chain with an extension ring at 16"? some of the girls here have them and swear by them. i believe bella_mezzo''s new BGD bezel has 2 extension rings in it; her thread is still on the first page of SMTR. this is certainly the route i''d go; i think trying to switch out chains on such a delicate pendant would send me nuts!

hope this is helpful - good luck! :)

Hi,
If you feel the simple .50 is too small, then a halo seems like the best option. Two of my pendants have similar size diamonds to yours. One is in a basket setting and the other is a thin DBTYs style and the bezel on the second pendant frames the diamond nicely so it''s more visable than the basket one I have, however, it still looks around the same size. It doesn''t have that major umph factor like that of what a halo would have.

Here's my DBTY pendant. As you can see, even with the thin style bezel, the diamond is understated. ETA - the chain is a thicker wheat chain rather than the delicate chains many other pendants have.

Thanks Whitby, I actually scoured my jewelry box and came to the realization that I prefer 18" necklaces. The only 16" that I have is a tiffany''s open heart necklace that I never wear because it is too short of a chain. I feel like I am being choked even though I am not! So I think if I go with WF I will end up just upgrading to the 18" chain. WF told me that if I wanted they could modify the pendant to make it easier to switch out chains on it but I think that would be an expensive change considering I know I LOVE the 18" chain on me. So do you think having said that I should just leave the pendant alone and just upgrade the chain? I''m actually thinking of engraving my sons name and bday in it if they can do it for me. He will be turning one in April and I think that would be nice.

MC, thanks for posting pics of your bezel. I love it! You have nice collar bones too!! I think that considering I already have it set as a basket, I''m not going to get enough oomph out of it if I just bezel it without the halo. I''m not a small girl. About 5''8" and a size 12 so I think I am drawn to bigger pendants for me.

Thank you both for your help!

I vote for the whiteflash halo also. Not liking the BGD halo pendant for the same reason you and whitby dont like it.

hi lizzyann :)

no - i wouldn''t leave it as it. i think jewelry always needs to fit one''s own proportions. if you, yourself, are tall and of a more athletic build, i''d definitely halo it to give it some presence.

i think it would look voluptuous :)

(you go, gir!l)

Hi Whitby, you are so funny! I think I actually sounded confusing in my last post to you. This is what I meant to say....I originally asked WF if it was easy to switch necklaces in and out of their halo pendant. They came back to me and told me that they could modify the halo pendant so that chains could easily be switched out. But in the meantime, I scoured my jewelry box and realized I hate 16" necklaces on me. I LOVE 18" only. So now I am thinking to just tell WF to not modify the halo pendant but to instead just leave their halo pendant the way it is but instead pay a little more to get an 18" chain instead of the 16" that comes with their halo pendant. So either way I think I am going to go with the WF halo, but I''m thinking it will be cheaper for me to just upgrade the chain vs having them modify the actual halo pendant so that I can put my own 18" chain in it. Hope that makes more sense now. Thanks so much for your help. I am really excited about it and I am loving the idea of putting my little boys name on it!!!

TYTY, thanks for your feedback. It seems like everyone agrees to halo that baby!

I don''t have my pendant insured and WF said that it would need to be insured for them to work on it for me. DO they just mean the package needs to be insured to send it to them? Or am I literally going to have to add it to my insurance etc just for them to set it? What a pain if so.

Are you going with WF? Have you solved your insurance problem yet?

I am still waiting to hear back from WF on costing etc. After that, I will need to send them my stone, so I will need to figure the insurance thing out. I wonder if they would work on it without insurance. I plan to get it insured once the pendant is completed but I wasn''t thinking that I needed to do it before. Any advice?

Ok so I actually just heard back from WF and they think it might be best if I get them exact measurements of my stone and have someone set it for me locally. Has anyone done anything like this? I just want to make sure it is done perfectly you know? Are bezels usually easier to set than prongs? And how much does it usually cost to have a jeweler set a stone into a pendant that I did NOT buy from them? HELP!!

Call around for prices. My guess is that prongs are easier to set and would be less expensive. Find someone who primarily does only jewelry repair/settings rather than going to the mall where diamonds are purchased. They will charge more.

Thanks for the compliment. I have a few pictures of that stone with my .41 prong set that I was going to post, however the diamonds look terrible in the shot since they were taken in grey overcast lighting! lol

Hey lizzyanne,
Do you have a homeowners policy? Most of my jewelry is covererd under it. We just have to have a rider to cover
my more expensive jewelry (my ering). You might want to talk to your insurance company.

tyty

MC, I bet your prong set pendant looks gorgeous on you too!!!

I am getting a little discouraged on the WF halo. In order to get it engraved it is going to cost me significantly more because they will need to make the sides solid instead of lattice so that there is room. Plus I want 18" chain and charge for engraving and now I will have to get it set locally which will be another charge. I totally understand that with modifications comes a charge, but I am starting to go way over budget now.

tyty, thanks for responding. I also have my e-ring, wedding band, and three stone on my homeowners too, so I could just add it. but I don''t have an appraisal so I guess I would have to get that first.

Hey MC, if I went with a chunkier style bezel (no halo), more like a traditional slider, do you think I would have room on the sides to engrave plus get a little more oomph to my stone size?

I actually found this thread from Katiedid with a "back set" stuller bezel setting. I''m wondering if there would be room to engrave anything on it?
