what to do with a long pear?

I have found a pear diamond with the measurements of 12.24 x 5.97 x 3.82. If I were to buy this pear or one similar to it, what setting would you recommend to put it in? It seems a little long and thin. I was thinking of surrounding it with a halo or some sort.

I just worry with some halos--- they look like a big hunk of silver rather than a halo of diamonds.

I would like to hear any suggestions! I''m not terribly creative so anything you can throw my way is appreciated!

i must say--its sounds odd. thats very long to only be 6mm wide

Those are almost the same measurements of my 2.06 pear. Mine is 12.12 x 6

Here is a picture. It''s more narrow than chubby, but still looks good as a solitaire

I''m having one made at the moment with a halo! Almost the same dimensions as yours. One of my absolute "must haves" is that there is very little metal to be seen in the halo. It''s taking ages to have finalised and made but I''ll post up pictures when it arrives.

Here is an outline without consideration for any bulge or straightness. It can be a great shape in a pendant and would look good with long fingers in a ring. A pair of them for drop earrings is even better.

I don''t have pictures of this diamond. I was curious if a long, narrow pear would look "off" but, judging by the pictures below, I don''t think it does. I have long fingers that are on the *ahem* thicker side so I am thinking something long and narrow like this might work on my hands.

I''ll keep you guys posted if I should settle on a particular stone. I will need LOTS of advice before I make any final decisions!

No, it''s just something I bought for myself. I had it set in that (inexpensive) setting while I decided on a permanent setting. Once I started wearing it, I realized I liked it as is.
