Me too.
This is like a treasure hunt.

sbdfan, I want to apologize for sticking my nose into your business.
I was out of place commenting on what you post regarding your plans with GIA.

I did something similar over on the Pricescope's Colored Stones forum with another poster who asked for photography advice for his FCD collection and I got all carried away teaching about macro photography equipment, virtually taking over his thread.
I can just imagine what people think.

I am conflicted about this.
I have some legit knowledge about FCDs and their macrophotography, and of course it's okay to share.
I just have a hard time knowing when to put a lid on it.

FCDs are magical little things and I've fallen under their spell, hard.
Photographing them can elevate to some level of artistic expression, but I will work on self-moderating - just a bit. :saint:

Re: What to do with a fancy light slightly buish green diamo

Another post about a green diamond reminded me of this -- sbdfan, have you heard back on the results?

Re: What to do with a fancy light slightly buish green diamo

What a fascinating thread! I missed it the first time around - thanks for bringing it back to the surface, mogster!

Kenny - thanks for the links and of course for sharing so freely of your knowledge. I have a ring with a brown diamond center stone - I'll have to compare it to your charts when I get home and see whether I can figure out exactly how it would be classified!

Re: What to do with a fancy light slightly buish green diamo

Oh my goodness! What a mystery and we didn't get to hear the end of the story! :(sad

Re: What to do with a fancy light slightly buish green diamo

Yes, I'm also curious how GIA graded the stone.

I hope no news did not mean bad news.

Re: What to do with a fancy light slightly buish green diamo

Maybe it means the stone popped positive for being natural, the OP sold it and moved to a private island with the proceeds. :D

I certainly hope so! I was worried the person who posted about the green OMB replica was the OP, but s/he has an emerald cut.

Re: What to do with a fancy light slightly buish green diamo

I had forgotten all about this thread. I hope we get an update soon.

It does seem like we get the occasional post like this (green diamond, blue diamond, sister to the Hope diamond, etc), itvalways gets my hopes up, but then we never hear back from the OP. Sigh....

Re: What to do with a fancy light slightly buish green diamo

I too am intrieged by this! Hope we hear back from the poster soon.

Re: What to do with a fancy light slightly buish green diamo

Thanks Titan.
Boy that's a horrible pic of the Grayish Violet pear.
If you think a single FCD is hard to photograph just try to get the color of ten to look true in the same pic. :angryfire:

There have been some changes in my FCD rainbow collection since that pic, plus I bought a new camera body today actually, a Nikon D800.
It has 36.2 Mega pixels and has a larger sensor than my old 16.2 Mega pixel D7000.

Finally there is a DSLR that rivals the resolution of medium format Hasseblads that cost ten times as much.
I'm very excited and looking forward to some fun photoshoots in the next few weeks when I find time.

Kenny... WOW!!
The light lime-green cushion (?) and the bright orange pear are my favorites!! Stunning!!

Re: What to do with a fancy light slightly buish green diamo

Yeah, I am making plans to save up all of my money for my whole life so before I die I can buy a yellowish green like Kenny's. Leibish has a yellow green now but it's like 30k... I guess I could buy it instead of having a wedding, but I don't think that would make the soon-to-be Mr. Distracts all that happy. It's a good size too - 0.62 cushion, 4.9x4.5. Big enough for a ring centerstone!

I can only imagine how much that rare collection truly costs, Kenny. Almost as colorful as your Senegal!
