Well I got a new pet rock (or maybe pebble would be a better term
), that I need to decide what to do with. All thoughts, ideas, etc are welcome.
Sorry for the bad photo, it's the only one I have for the moment (need to borrow my moms camera since ours took a little hit).
Stats per the appraisal are:
-Center stone- OEC I SI1 (eye clean) 6.58 x 6.46 x 4.37mm no flouro
-Side stones are all OEC including too tiny 3 pointers
and then the other two were 3.4mm.
-Setting is huge! That why Pet Pebble looks tiny. The setting weighs over 10 grams and is a size 10 1/4 with monster prongs in silver while the shank is 14kt gold.
Back story:
I was not looking for anything in this size, but having lost out on two stones this year that I really really wanted I was feeling a bit blue. When I saw this one I just had to buy it, it was a good price but I could have walked away were it not for the cut on this thing. Honestly this well cut OEC are so hard to find.
Problem:
I don't know what to do with it! I am still a student so it's not like I can just go around collecting these things
.
I can't wear it right now since I am a 5 1/4 on one hand and a 6 on the other. The size difference is too big to re-size it and due to the monster prongs (and that the work is not so great) I don't think it is worth it to completely redo the shank.
Part of me says sell it and then use the money in the big OMC/ 3 stone fund (what I really want). Another part of me says reset it into a cheap temp setting, wear it for a while and then maybe sell itif you get tired of it. I have convinced myself that it will be easier to sell in a solitaire than in the current setting (over here it is easier to sell already set stones).
I have been looking at the fishtail setting from poppyseed http://diamondbistro.com/category/196/Rings/listings/24564/Beautiful-Vintage-Style-Fishtail-Setting.html either in white gold or white gold head and rose gold shank.
Does anyone know of other cheap temporary settings or any ideas for a permanent setting?
So what should I do? Any ideas?
