What'' the best type of pendant setting for a round diamond?

I have a 1 carat OEC solitare ring, originally from my great-grandmother, sitting in a safety deposit box at home. I''m thinking about making it into a necklace, but I''m clueless about the different setting options available. I really like the necklaces where the diamond is part of the necklace instead of hanging off like a pendant. Whiteflash can make you one that is nearly identical to the Blue Nile one only without the "Mickey Ears" on the sides. I just got one. I didn''t have an inherited diamond though. Here''s mine.


I''m sure many of the other jewelers could do a similar setting.
