From what little I have picked up on other threads, it seems to me we have a really wide range of interesting jobs here on PS! So I am curious to hear about what you all do all day (other than spend to much time in the forums I mean

)

I am a social psychologist and I currently do research full time and teach the occassional university course while I look for a job as a university professor.

What do you do?

Lol DD. I''ve been thinking about this too, so I''m glad you started this thread.

I''m a psychology undergraduate student with a culinary degree and eventually I think I''ll probably make wedding cakes or open a bakery or something totally different.

I''m a high school English teacher and reading specialist. It''s the best, I get to sit around and talk about books with really interesting people all day. And then I get to help those who can''t read well discover the joy of reading.

English instructor at a community college, tutor, and freelance writer - I have no idea what it means to work regular hours, but I love the work I do.

I''m an analyst on the strategy team for a large marketing firm. I work pretty closely with the creative side--my role is to create the strategy for the marketing campaign and their job is to execute the campaign, then when the campaign is over we get all of the data back and other analysts crunch the numbers and my team comes up with a new campaign. I only work with one client, but they are a huge client and there are literally hundreds of us on the account all playing different roles.

I''ve always been an analyst, but being in strategy allows me to be more creative and so far I really like it.

Still, my weekends are what I live for! D and I have way too many hobbies to squeeze into our non-working lives!

I''m the Director of Inside Sales for a 10 year old start-up software company that''s finally getting off the ground. We deal in the application lifecycle management space for SAP, and have a flagship solution that tests SAP business processes completely end-to-end, without creating or generating any code.

I create lead generation plans, own a team of people who cold call our lead database and gather more leads, and I also call C-levels for meetings to discuss our solution.

People think I''m crazy for enjoying the cold-calling aspect of my job, but I love it!

I just had a nearly $250k deal close in 8 days! EIGHT days! That''s insane!

I am a buyer for an equestrian retail store. I purchase all the clothing...both for the rider''s competition and for everyday riding. Boots, helmets, breeches, hunt coats - all of that.

It''s really fun! I basically get to shop for a living!!!

Wow, what an interesting dynamic bunch we are. My job doesn''t sound so exciting, but I am a corporate Risk Manager. I like to say it''s another title for putting out fires, but it would also be a lot of "fire prevention" Some days I am called the cleaner.

Just make sure our huge worldwide companies have the proper insurance to cover their exposures, manage the claims and lawsuits that are filed, and strategize with operations and H.R. to train.

Blech, it sounds boring.

I'm currently a Software Development Engineer in Test and a Content Producer on Mobile products working at the largest software company in the world (for the last 7 years)! (cue evil empire music)

I'm currently working towards getting my Project Management Certification (by the end of the year I hope) and I'll be taking the PMP soon after. Then hopefully I'll be a PM next. I was a web devloper in my past life and have been in tech for 12 years now.

ETA: I'd love to actually own a clothing boutique and make my own jewelry line one day. I love to craft!

I used to be a college professor, but now I''m a program officer in a small federal grantmaking agency. Basically, I work with applicants and help them get grants, then I oversee them once they get funded.

I believe there was a thread just like this a few short months ago...I''ll go look...

I work in a PRISON!!... which sounds much scarier than it really is.

Title is Classification Officer Apprentice.. its work in an administrative capacity... I calculate the dates that we let the guys out of prison and call and arrange pick up on their open warrants... I love reading the files they are fascinating...

But October 4, 2008 I take the LSATS... so you can all see where that is going....

I was a lawyer until six months ago! I loved law school and did quite well...however...practicing stunk...so here I am...

Maybe jewelry designer? who knows!!!

It''s going to be a culture shock SDL.

You will go from RVS, CPT, 99720 to a lot more interesting acronyms.

Lauren, I''m giggling because that all (the bolded part) went COMPLETELY over my head, but congratulations on the deal!

I was wondering how the jewelry designing was going! You are living most everyone''s (on this site anyway) dream!

As a senior supply chain manager for the largest aerospace mfr., I''m currently managing the contractual progress of one of our partners (aka supplier babysitting). I travel quite a bit, and negotiate multi million dollar contracts. It''s interesting work, but very high pressure.

These threads are always fun!

I''m a Psychotherapist at a women''s therapy center (non-profit), primarily doing individual therapy with women in their 20s and 30s. I also coordinate the intake process for the center.

I may go back for a PhD in a couple years to enable me to teach at the university level, but probably not for Clinical/Counseling Psych... I''ve gathered enough graduate degrees in that already (2 masters, a certification, and working on licensure)! Ideally I''d like to do Educational or School Psych, or Human Development... and I''m most interested in doing research on giftedness.

No worries, Selkie - it goes over my head most days and I wrote the darn thing!

Currently (blissfully) taking a year off after 12 years of teaching Middle and High School English and History and directing musical theater.

Working on creating a program using improvisational theater methods to help reluctant young writers (and to give more enthusiastic writers a new and fun approach). Also working on my own version of the Great American Novel, which I am proud to say is quite terrible right now, but having anything on paper is an accomplishment. Much easier to clean up junk than to clean up empty space.

Don''t work

surf the internet all day, spend too much time on PS

i haven't gotten there yet, but in ten months when i graduate with my masters i'll be a speech language pathologist meaning i will

- work with stroke patients either in acute care or rehab on recovering language and speech skills (apraxia, aphasia, dysphagia, dysarthria, alexia, etc). (second choice)

or

- work with traumatic brain injury patients on recovering pragmatic skills and frontal lobe/right hemisphere functioning (first choice....no idea why i listed it second)

my field has a LOT of flexibility, and i could easily switch to working in schools or clinics and work with expressive or receptive language impaired kids, kids with articulation problems, early intervention, kids with autism, kids who stutter, setting up augmentative communication systems for nonfluent patients/kids, or in nursing homes with elderly patients. i'll also have my teachers certificate so that i could teach preschool or kindergarten (although i don't think i would ever want to after student teaching!)

whatever i end up doing exactly, i'm confident that i'm going to be very happy! i love my field

I''m a tax accountant. I work for a software company in their tax department. Basically my job is dealing with the US tax implications of having international operations.

What a great thread! I'm a child and family clinician at a children's mental health organization (non-profit). I work with children and youth between the ages of 5-18 yrs who've been sexually abused, children under 12 years who engage in sexualized behaviours and youth over 12 years who've sexually abused. I'm also a part-time grad student (MA in counselling psychology). I love my job!

I just finished an M.Ed program with a focus in elementary education which will allow to apply for a multiple subject teaching credential. I am a substitute during the school year and am spending the summer in a ASD (autism spectrum disorder) classroom working as an instructional aide. Job prospects are pretty grim at the moment, so I''ll substitute for at least another year or two; I spend most of my time working in ASD classrooms as it is hard to find substitutes who will work in special education classrooms and I thoroughly enjoy it.

I am R E T I R E D!!

I also take care of my grandboys, while my daughter works, (my favorite job, by far)

Linda

I just graduated law school in May, am prepping to take the bar exam in July, and will start as a litigation associate at a major NYC firm in September (oh yeah...and get married in August). In my past life (ok, just for 4 years while in law school), I was a paralegal at a boutique employment firm.

I''m a buyer for a men''s and women''s clothing boutique. I pick out and order all the clothes, shoes and accessories. I love it!

Right now I''m also in school finishing my psychology degree...but I''ll probably keep working at my current job when I graduate! I''m still thinking about graduate school...

I do 3 things:

I am in the Insurance - I am an Underwriter assistant ( would like to be an Underwriter one day )

I am also a nail technician in the evening and in the weekend.

finally, I am also a vocalist - I record vocals for film, video games and solo artist :) That' what I
30.gif
to do :)

I would really love for you to come and visit me :)

Lawyer - civil litigation, particularly fraud recovery litigation. I seize the assets and take the computers of the bad guys. Once I have my Christian Louboutins on their jugular, they pay what they have stolen. So much fun!!!!
