First of all, THANK YOU AMAZING DIAMOND PEOPLE ! I lurk here a couple hours a day and am constantly impressed with everyone's knowledge and most of all their willingness to spend so much time and effort helping others ! Sometimes I want to slap people on your behalf's: "Dude, she is giving you amazing advice and trying to save you thousands and you're not even LISTENING ! " LOL

Anyway, two yrs into my marriage last fall, I suddenly became obsessed with diamonds. No clue what triggered it but it does not seem like it is abating. :wink2: I read everything I could get my hands on, mostly here, and armed with a ridiculously small amount of money set out on E-bay to get the most diamond ring for my buck. The e-ring was custom made for the original owner and just along the lines of what I would have had made for myself money allowed. Because it was so delicate ( .47 center) and Hey, 2 yrs of marriage, I should get TWO rings, lol, I decided a five stone would be my best bet for a wedding ring to get the wall of bling look. I asked a lot of questions, got a lot of pics, and while the e-ring is only EGL, all the diamonds on both rings have a lot of fire and sparkle so I got lucky ( and knew what to look for thanks again to you guys.) I mentioned it before and though it's embarrassing compared to the figures mentioned here, I'm also proud I managed to do so well and get lots of compliments. The total was $680: $380 for the e-ring, $300 for the five stone. I'm as happy as any diamond obsessed person on a budget can be :)

Ok, on to the question finally. I really don't know what sort of setting/prongs I have ! My limited knowledge tells me that the e-ing center is in a V prong and I THINK the six side stones are in a high bezel ? I LOVE the scalloped look of many 5 stones, but mines setting makes it look square which works with the princess cut, but wouldn't have been my first choice. I prioritized sparkle over setting in this case.

How would you describe the rings style ( if they even have one) ?

Thanks so much, I've been curious and since I can't shop for more yet, might as well learn more ( and get a chance to talk about !) my lovely little diamonds that I DO have !

You princess is set with Vprongs. Very well done ones too. Nice.

The others... the band is vintage. I had one similar. I don't recall what those prongs are they make them look so square (someone told me once but I just can't remember), so hopefully someone else will chime in.

As for how much you paid! YOU ROCK! Those are AWESOME DEALS. And your rings are just flat out lovely!

Don't be ashamed. TOTALLY be proud. That takes massive skills to pull off! :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl:

Thank you Gypsy, you are one of my favorite posters here, I feel honored that you answered me :) So are the six graduated side stones on the e-ring bezel set ? They also seem to have one bead thingy between them.

Yeah, I hope someone chimes in on the five stone too ! When you say vintage what exactly does that mean ? The story on e-bay was a guy bought it from his friend when the engagement fell through to help him out, and after a few years in the back of the closet he just wanted to clear the $300 bucks back. While I do like the scalloped look more than this bar sort of look, it DOES have the " nothing but diamonds" appearance I was going for.

And Thanks for the compliment !!! I AM proud I managed to pull off TWO rings, decent quality and lots of happy sparkles for so little. I like to Imagine what I could do with 10k :naughty:

Okay so the setting... with the scallop look is a single shared prong setting. Love that look. Not bezels though. Those are just high baskets. Check out the Memoire Purity Collection for a similar look. If that's what yours looks like, then that's what it is.

The standalone band (not setting) is a vintage setting. Doesn't really mean anything. It's just a style that was common in vintage settings around 1950s and 1960 and even 1970s. There's what looks like 4 prongs on each individual stone, no prongs are shared or in common (which is what a shared or common prong is).

Hope that helps.

And yes, I am sure you could do amazing things with 10k! It's fun to bling dream isn't it!!

I hope we'll see you on here more! Always love to have new members with good skills join and speak up! :wavey:

They aren't bezel set. Bezeled usually means the entire girdle of the diamond is covered with metal. Your e-ring looks like it's one larger shared prong in between each stone, and the w-band looks like each diamond has 4 prongs, so it's not a shared-prong. I am not sure there's a name for that. Your e-ring has a closed profile and the w-band has an open profile.

Good job finding such a great deal! Your set is beautiful.

Edited to add: Gypsy and I posted at the same time. Hi, Gypsy! :wavey:

YES !!! Thanks ladies, that was the Diamond-speak I hear so often on here that I wanted to be able to apply to my very own jewelry ! Exactly what I was looking for, terrific :appl:

Like I said, I am on here reading constantly, but see little use in chiming in to say " Gee, I don't know but I'm sure someone here will help you" lol. I DO wish to be more interactive on here as I am everywhere else. I own an Interactive Children's theatre for which I write, direct, produce and act in so I am NOT shy.

Thanks again my wonderful diamond friends, I'm going to refresh my memory and go back and look at YOUR rings now !
