I''m working on getting some diamond side stones for my sapphire (the whole thing has been kind of an on going project) and I''m not quite sure what size would be nice. It''s an oval stone and I guess I''m going for round side stones.
yes-good idea. I know someone with about a 1 ct round sapphire with 20 pointers--very pretty. But my jeweler has one in his case that has 40 pt side stones that is chunkier and also very pretty...
I'll post as things start coming together. It took me forever to find a sapphire. I actually bought it a while ago but didn't know what to do with it.

True Tiffany three stone diamond rings use a 50% ratio (i.e 1ct diamond, .5ct each sides). Of course diamonds and sapphires are cut differently so it is a little hard to compare ratios of cts to cts. However, The Tiffany Sapphire with Diamond sides Ring I saw in their store use a ratio of 21% to 26% of Sapphire Ct for each side diamond. Blueeyes post above uses a 27% ratio and looks wonderful!!!.
So with a Sapphire of around 1ct - I think two side diamonds of .25-.3cts each would would look very nice.
how about oval diamonds on the sides to match the sapphire? Maybe 30-40 pts? That might look awesome...the challenge would be finding two well cut ovals...
I think round diamonds on each side sounds wonderful. But... how about to show off your beautiful center stone even more by having 2 trillion cut? It will bring out the oval shape even more!
