hey guys.. first of all. do you like this halo setting from emma parker

http://www.emmaparkerdiamonds.com/engagement-rings/Pave-Set-Halo-Diamond-Engagement-Ring-Setting/144492

and secondly, what size round diamond in the middle would be ok to put in there. I have had to reasses my budget due to work being slow and im leaning to a halo now. i think i want to create a nice bigger effect now as i can't swing something in the .75 range anymore... do you think a .50? would be too small in it? a .6?

thanks

jonas

There is a big price jump at .70, so I would go as high as you can find in the .60-.69 range. Is Emma Parker a local jeweler for you?

thanks price seeker... no emma is not local.. just one of the halos i found online that was not too expensive and looked nice.. what do you think of it??

i meant diamond seeker.. oops.. ;))

I think it is fine as far as style goes, but you will have trouble finding someone to set the stone if you buy a diamond from one place and order a setting from another. Everyone has settings like that, so I strongly encourage you to buy the setting from the place you buy the diamond. That way they are taking responsibility in the unlikely event the stone was damaged during setting.

What is your budget now? You may want to stick with H color since you are lowering your budget.

sigh... :blackeye: the budget went down signigicantly due to my work situation recently.. just getting less hours and so forth.. you know how it goes.. so im coming in around the $3500 range or so now. I see some nice .65s or so out there around $2500 or so.. all ACA e.t.c. from james allen and whiteflash gog.. etc and then i was gonna try to find a nice halo for around $1000 or so. I like the look of the raised halo better than the ones that are flush.. just wanna seperate the center stone a bit from the accents...

heres 2 stones im considering

emma parker says you can ship your stone to them and they will set it for you..
how do you feel about 'shipping stones" to someone to set.. just curious as to if this is a safe method..

thanks

Jonas,

Tim at Emma Parker did my engagement ring, my bands and my five stone. His customer service is the best. I highly recommend him. He's not one of the big ones but he's top rate all the way. M

Good Old Good sells Leo Ingwer settings and the one that you linked is one of his designs, so if you like the diamond from GOG they will be able to set it in the setting for you. I think they also offer a discounted price on their settings..something to check on anyway.

Jonas,

I will just add I didn't buy my diamond from Tim. I wish I had but that's a long story.. I did buy my five stone diamonds from him. I shipped my diamond (engagement ring) to him. (he did everything as far as labels, directions etc)... I enjoyed the personal service and the integrity of Tim. He has gone the extra mile for me on all three of my projects. In fact.. right now I have something going on where I don't love a detail of my five stone (it's exactly what I asked for.. not an issue from Emma Parke or the designer Sareen).. and he has been all over helping me resolve the issue (at no charge to me)... Dealing with him for me has been like dealing with Grace from JbEG. A lot of personal attention from an owner... I'm a big fan.. I live in Florida..and he's on the West Coast... I found Tim completely by accident...

This isn't to say I'm not a fan of other retailers on here.. there are a bunch of really good ones.. I just have been so pleased with how I have been treated by Tim.

If you get your diamond from GOG, then you can have them set with Gabriel & Co. They have a ton of halos to choose from and if you buy the stone and setting from GOG, you get a discount on the setting. I am not 100% sure but I think it's 20%. Gabriel has a ton on halos and they are very nice in person.
Here are so halo options <$1000 (MSRP)
http://www.gabrielny.com/engaged/styles/1?category=ER&style=Halo&price=-1000

And here is the halo selection &1000-2000 (MSRP)
http://www.gabrielny.com/engaged/styles?category=ER&style=Halo&price=1000-2000

There seems to be some really nice stones on GOG. I'm certainly NO expert, but these appeal to me (I like smaller stones BTW):

I would try and stay around $2500 for the diamond. But, you should reach out to GOG and give them your budget and see what they come up with! I think you're making a smart decision and it's good to have a budget and stick with it!
