What size five stone for size 5 finger?

I'm considering a five stone for our upcoming anniversary. Strange as it seems, I've had trouble finding sizable ones to try where I live. I would wear the ring as a stand alone ring. I would like it to look substantial, but not too over the top as it will be my everyday ring. I also don't want it to spread too wide that I can't close my fingers. Would a 1 or 1.25 ctw be a good size to cover the top of my finger? I also love the look of a custom graduated ring Whiteflash made that had .2, .3, .4, .3, and .2 stones but wonder if this would be way too big! Any suggestions??

I wear a size 5 and my five stone is 1 ctw. It covers the top of my finger, and looks substantial to me.
If I can, I will post some pictures when I get home.

I wear a 5.5 and my five stone is 1ctw. You can see my avatar pic or check out the 5 stone thread. If I was not wearing a five stone with my ering I would have gone with a 1.5-1.75 ctw ring.

I also wear 5.5 and have a one carat ring and I love it! It is beautiful but not too blingy. If I had one made, I might graduate the stones like you mentioned because mine is very slightly graduated. I think slightly graduated with 30, 25, 20 might be nice. If I had one made with stones all the same size, I'd go no larger than 25-30 point stones. I think a five stone with graduated stones of .40, .30, .20 would be perfect. If I ever get another, I think this is what I would want.

Size 6.5, stones are .25,.40 and .53. I think it can stand alone. It's an everyday ring for her.

I vote graduated because it will give more vertical spread and save a little horizontal spread, so it will make the ring blingier and more comfotable all at once!

FWIW with little 0.20ct stones on the end, if you get a high quality setting that is low to the hand, it won't bug you when worn, or if it does, you do get used to it.

I recently got engaged and ended up getting a five-stone ring as the e-ring, I am a size 5 and total ct weight is 1.5 . The stones aren't graduated, though, but I struggled back and forth between 1.25 and 1.5 cttw.. and happy that 1.5 was the choice. I wear mine as a standalone. It covers my fingers just right, doesn't hang over, and it's comfortable.

I recently had a five stone made with .40 stones. My finger size is between 5.5 and 5.75. It is a very low set trellis style. I can still close my fingers together while wearing it, but just barely. It is very blingy and I love it, but if I were to do it again, I think I would have graduated the stones just slightly for comfort. I am new here and have no idea how to load pictures, but I will see if I can learn.

I should mention that my ring has the European shank, which really helps it from spinning on my fingers.
