I recently bought a 1.05 carat round brilliant. The setting is a Crisscut platinum setting with sidestones. I believe it is a 4-prong setting. The setting itself is at a jeweller in Ann Arbor because I sent it back to the manufacturer to get a size 4. I did not buy the setiing from this jeweller (long story), but it has been in business a long time. They said they would set the stone for $15. Should I be concerned? I have been quoted $90 by other jewellers. It will be convenient to do it there and of course I don''t want to pay extra for nothing. Anyone have any thoughts?

Will it void the workmanship warranty if the jeweler sets it? Why not have Christopher Designs set it?

Well, the setting is now back with the jeweller already. I would have to ship it back to Christopher designs. This jeweller sells Crisscut settings so they must mount other rings right?

Well, some jewelers are authorized by the setting manufacturer to set stones themselves, and not void the warranty. Some aren''t.

It depends how much you trust him.
