What should I ask about a Platinum setting

I found a platinum setting that I love at my local jewler. It is really heavy and seems high quality. Here is the question. I have never bought platinum before and wondered what I should be asking. The ring has .50 to of diamonds and they are asking $3300.00. I looked on dirtcheap diamonds and they are asking around $1600.00 for something similar in looks. What should I be asking my jewler about the ring???

Is this made to size and to fit your stone? Are inspections and cleanings and melee stone replacements free? Upgrades?

If you can buy from a reputable PS vendor Id almost say go that route.
