I''ve always loved magazines and subscribe to a few. How about you? This isn''t meant to turn into a debate over online vs in print periodicals, I''m specifically talking print. What do you think is worth your $12.99-$20.00/year?

I subscribe to a good variety, some are guilty pleasures, some are business related and others are just general interest. Many of these have been given as gifts and I''ve kept up with resubscribing.

Business Week
Publisher''s Weekly
Time
Newsweek
People
Cosmo
Glamour
Shape
Playboy

GET OFF MY CASE, KATIE COURIC!

I subscribe to The New Yorker and that''s it. Everything else I''ll read online.

WWD online. I can''t afford anything else.

The New Yorker, but I rarely have time to get through each week''s issue before the next one arrives. I used to get the Atlantic, too, but it was too much for me to keep up with. Maybe after the bar is over...

Same for me, Octavia-every article is so good I have to read them cover to cover! What I like to do is save them and take them with me when I fly and when I go on vacation. I can usually get caught up that way. And now that it's summer and I'm not taking classes I get through them more quickly.

Currently I subscribe to Real Simple and Sports Illustrated.

In the past I also subscribed to Fitness, Shape, Self, Health, Cosmo, and Glamour. When I got really busy with grad school I realized I just didn''t have time to read all of them every month, and so I started making a lot of cuts. I''m thinking about adding back in some sort of health/fitness magazine though, I miss the good tips and recipes I used to get.

Garden and Gun
Coastal Living

I am subscribed to several right now, most of which were gifts. They include:

Cooking Light
Self
Shape
Prevention - this is targeted to middle age and up but I find it so educational
Arabian Horse World
I have also magically been receiving Traditional Home (is this the correct title?) for over a year with no charge?

I like to also read
Time
The New York Times
Vogue (for the sake of fashion inspiration)
Fortune (when I can nab a copy)
National Geographic (again, when I can wing it)

I had a friend who moved not too long ago, and she had a subscription to a medical journal. I used to love reading it and now I don''t get to

If you are what you read

Reminisce
Catholic Digest
Doll Reader

I am an old Catholic doll collector

Actually my mom likes to give subscriptions as
gifts. Left to my own devices I probably
wouldn''t

I currently subscribe to:

The Economist
Scientific American
Scientific American Mind
Martha Stewart Living
Country Living
The Whole Dog Journal
Reading Research Quarterly (IRA)
Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy (IRA)
College English (NCTE)
College Composition and Communication (NCTE)
Research in the Teaching of English (NCTE)

In the recent past I've subscribed to:
Vogue
W
Newsweek
The New Yorker
Hmmm, there were others but I can't even remember them right now.

Jugs.

Just kidding! I actually don''t subscribe to anything

I LOOOOOOOVe Vanity Fair.

Except their jewelry ads kill me....

Right now, we get -

Time
Better Homes and Gardens
Bon Appetit
Smithsonian
Young Rider (for my daughter)
and a couple of computer mags for my husband

In the recent past, I''ve also subscribed to -

House and Garden (RIP)
Cottage Living (RIP)
Domino (RIP)
Atlantic Monthly
Southern Living

I was especially heartbroken when Cottage Living folded. I found that I just couldn''t keep up with the Atlantic, plus the articles tended to be a little gloom and doom for my tastes. Southern Living I decided not to renew for some reason. I''m thinking about picking it up again.

The last five are all for work, at least.

I love my More magazine!

We were gifted a subscription of national geographic, which I really like for the pictures

FI gets sports illustrated, and victoria secret promo magazines with such frequency he may as well have subscribed for them.

I like getting magazines, but I find that I don't really keep up with reading them. I'd rather read books.

Currently I get Wine Spectator and Bon Appetit (a gift from my mom, since she got a buy-one-get-one-free subscription). I've had Wine Spectator for a few years and I love it - it's my escape every month, and I learn something too. Though I'll admit I don't always read it cover to cover. I've thought about getting Newsweek, since my family got it and I read it all the time growing up, but I think it would just go to waste.

I was having trouble keeping up so now it''s just Vanity Fair and Horticulture.

I forgot that a friend gifted me a subscription for some Rachael Ray magazine. I paged through the first one, and I love cooking, but I would just never use the ingredients she calls for in her recipes.
The pictures make for some pretty buttons, though. I like to make button collages so those magazines are good for that!

I also steal many of my mom''s Oprah magazines once she''s finished with them. And I like her More magazines, too.

My subscriptions:

Scientific American Mind
Cooking Light
West Virginia Living

O magazine
Better Homes and Gardens
Traditional Home
Elle Decor
Redbook
Real Simple
Southern Living

Most of them are subscriptions from amazon for $5-10. I would only pay larger prices for Traditional Home and Elle Decor because I really like those. I surprisingly like Better Homes and Gardens and Southern Living and they're such a good price.

In the past, Traditional Home. Currently, (purchased as a school fundraiser - it was the only one I could find that didn''t bore the snot out of me) House Beautiful.

Also read,

Vanity Fair
Esquire
Archaeology
Scientific American
Discover
Seed
Fine Cooking
Food & Wine
Cook''s Illustrated
InStyle (occasionally)
Biblical Archaeology Review

Currently subscribed to Psychotherapy Networker and Digital Photography (a Christmas gift). I love magazines and will probably subscribe to more when I am more financially able.

Usually if I''m in the mood for a particular magazine (ex: guilty pleasure like Cosmo or decor ideas) I''ll just pick up the latest copy at the store.

I have no subscriptions currently, but I''ll buy Real Simple. I have a free 1 year subscription after buying their 2010 wedding planning guide, so I''ll resubscribe as soon as I move. I also used to get Everyday Food and really miss it.

Otherwise, no magazines for me, going unread in stacks and piles.

- The Economist
- Time
- Newsweek
- Financial Times
- Glamor
- Highlights
- People
- Vogue or Bazaar alternate with Glamor

I get "Aviation" and "Military aircraft of World War II" for free owing to my son''s interests

Three psychiatric journals

I should say I "peruse" all this stuff because I also prefer books

I am afraid Glamor will have to go - someone saw it in my office and gave me bad time for "promoting anorexia". For a while it was a treat to my receptionists, but they are getting tired of it, too...

The Economist

The Atlantic.

Elle Decor, Traditional Homes, Veranda, Better Homes and Gardens, Metropolitan Home , NY Trends

still upset my Domino ( which went out of business, a loss of epic proportions) subscription got replaced with generic design mags- so not me

for light reading, big fan of US, People
