I have $5,600 to spend on a GIA 1 carat round diamond. What parameters should I expect to set when looking for a quality diamond at this price. Setting will be yellow gold with 4 prong platinum. I realize this is subjective but a few opinions would be helpful. Thanks!
you can actually get a very nice stone for the budget you have set.
Since you are setting the stone in yellow gold with a white platinum head(cost about $100.00), I would have gone to a larger stone 1.10-1.20cts. with as low as J color.
J color actually will face up white in yellow metal.
G or h si1 looks like the top of the range in that price catagory for a h&a super-ideal cut.
You could go with a larger diamond by dropping down to an I-j but if a 1ct is big enough then Id stick with a g-h and find an eyeclean si1 or go with an I color si1 and a fancier settings.
Out of the 93 stones picked up by a quick sercah here, the following caught my attention...
Quite a few sellers did not appear in the search at all, so there would be many more diamonds than this search looked for. However, this list may be a good indication of prices and grades to start with, I guess.
