I was just browsing the site and found diamond vendors and was wondering what makes them so special and who selected them?
I am in NYC and was thinking of going to see Good Old Gold (it is 1 hour drive frome where we live). Now when I look at the site, there are several vendors closer by so I don''t have to drive.. Engagement Rings, Facets..
GOG was recommended by a lot of people on this site but what makes them so special? Thanks!

Well, OK, I''ll play...
For starters, how about good prices on killer stones with no BS?!

What makes GOG special? one word: Jon.
Make an appointment and go meet with him, you wont regret it.
What makes the PS vendors different?
Survival in one of the harshest fishbowls and environments anywhere.
Very few vendors manage too rise too the top.
Are they absolutely perfect, no but the are very close to survive here.

I have bought from GOG, Wink and Gary(diamondexpert.com) and recommend all 3.
Niceice, JA, ERD and WF are good to go too.

Absolutely! I''ve been working with him for a few weeks now, and he''s prompt, helpful, and very nice. He''s well aware that I''m over 10 months out from buying a stone and he''s still helping me like I''m buying tomorrow. He''s also offered to have a stone cut FOR ME based on my specs. Once a stone a want is found, I''m actually driving over three hours to meet with him specifically. He''s wonderful.

him and recommend him to anyone who will listen.

What makes PS vendors so special?

I got mixed up with a local diamond guy who would not let go of my money. Rightly or wrongly I felt I lacked leverage to demand it back (I had bought an EGL diamond - I felt under false pretenses and pressure tactics - but anyway I was backed into a "no refund, trade only" situation and needed to make the best of it without being in the driver''s seat).

Two Pricescope vendors - knowing there was no sale in it for them, gave of their time and advice freely to help me make a sound choice among my options. John at Whiteflash and Jon at GOG... both incredible gentleman and scholars. Both gave way beyond reasonable time and attention to my cause.

If I had it to do over again I would give either guy a budget and have every confidence that they would pick me out the best thing in their store for the price. No doubt about it at all.

Super class acts those two!

THAT is what makes PS vendors so special. That is why if anyone admires my wife''s ring and asks where I got it... I won''t tell them. I will tell them to come to Pricescope like I should have done sooner.

Wanted to add that there are also several PS prosumers that would chew up and spit out the above average Jeweler when it comes to diamond knowledge and dozens that would do the same to the above average diamond sales person.
The average for both likely dont stand a chance against someone who has been here a few weeks.
The list of them that hate my guts is a mile long LOL

What makes PS vendors so special?

Quite simply put, they care about PS customers.

I don''t have any experience with GOG but have heard great things about them from this site. I have also heard great things about Engagement Rings Direct, so if they are more convenient for you, I would not hesitate to try them as well.

Jonathan is just a great person and LOVES what he does! He has an outstanding selection of top quality diamonds. I envy anyone who has the experience of meeting with him and viewing the stones in person. If I was in NY, Good Old Gold would absolutely be my first choice for diamond shopping. (In case you didn''t guess, I do have a stone from there!)

I agree with all of the above, and have also purchased from GOG. And if I were you, I''d go to ALL the places you''ve listed, including GOG. (I don''t know what you''re looking for, but you''d get to see the best of the best) Seriously, do you KNOW how lucky you are??! Most of us would give anything to have ONE PS vendor within driving distance, much less a handful!

What makes P.S. jewelers so special?

In my experience....

1. Their knowledge and patience.
2. Their quality of diamonds.
3. Their vast inventory of great diamonds.
4. Their prices.
5. With some vendors, their upgrade policy.
6. Their websites which allow us to easily compare stones.
7. Their willingness to honestly educate consumers.

A) Re GOG...investment in technology, extensive knowledge, and inventory

B) Re your thread''s title, more generally:

Symbiosis...

Giving you, for example, ASET presentations, Helium data, and more...

What makes PS vendors special? Integrity. Commitment to quality and their customers. A major investment in technology that enables (all of) us to provide our customers with more detailed information about the diamonds that we sell - so many jewelers rely on the statement "isn''t this a beautiful diamond" and a piece of laminated paper to "tell" their customers about a diamond - most of the dealers here on PS have the ability to quantify the diamonds that they sell with hard data. And accountability, major accountability. We live in a sort of glass fish bowl here on PS, our actions and beliefs are exposed for all to see. There are many excellent PS vendors located in the NYC area and I think you''re in good hands with all of them - I would definitely go see Jonathan, I certainly did the last time I was in NYC, his store and his entire crew is well worth the short drive. Take the time to visit all of your local PS vendors and buy from the one who you can relate to best and who can provide you with the diamond you seek at a fair price. Enjoy the adventure!

PS vendors are special because they give better serivce, better quality, and better prices than local B&M''s. Not to mention that they know what they are talking about and genuinely care!
