I have the Lexus SUV Hybrid. I would say that is more expensive, so if you are doing it to save money on gas, it''s probably not worth it. And it also depends on how you drive it. It supposedly stays in electric mode if you are generally driving 35 mph or less, and doing a lot of stopping and starting. Once you are driving fast, or on freeways, it is just like the regular SUV.

Now, I live 5 mins from where I work, and rarely get on the freeway. We usually drive DH''s car on weekends. So for me, I rarely have to fill up- maybe once a month. So I don''t have to buy gas as often. And I partly got it b/c I wanted an SUV, but feel guilty about it, so it is a compromise for my conscience. Which hubby thinks is totally stupid, but it makes me feel better.

I have to say, I like the Lexus, but I much prefer BMW and their service. My experience with Lexus has NOT been great, and I am really surprised by that. I had heard such great things about it. It obviously depends on which dealer you go to, but still.

Now everyone else that has this car (and I seem to know a lot of them!) loves it- hybird or non-hybrid version.

A 2007 Lexus LX470 SUV, but I went and looked at a BMW 5 series. Worst experience ever.
Penn - my parents have a 470 & I absolutely love it! I don''t like BMWs really, either.

I had a bad experience with the sales guy. I adored the car.

Some salesmen can really make you lose interest in an item fast. The BMW dealership in my town is owed by an old family friend, so he's always trying to get us to buy one! My parents always just preferred Benz or Lexus. Sorry for the threadjack OP!

I have a 2008 Accord 4 door. Lots of room and fun to drive...the engine switches from 4 cylinder to 6 as you need it to save gas...I get about 26 MPG average

My husband and I both drive a Vauxhall Astra. (not sure if you have them in the states). His is newer than mine but mine has hardly any mileage on it!

I really want a Landrover Freelander but I have read horror stories about problems on the 1.8 model. I don''t know if I would like to drive a 2 litre.... might not be so bad

i drive an intrepid. it is long and big but i really like it

I have an 08 Honda CRV, which gets quite good mileage for a car that is as large as this. I bought it b/c it had fantastic safety ratings for all the front and side impact crashes. Ilike it a lot. We also have a Camry and though we like it a lot, my husband wants to replace it with a hybrid. He is waiting for the 09 Prius b/c he says that one will be redesigned. Right now I am no that into the looks of the current Prius. I used to like it, but I think I got bored of it.
