I have the Lexus SUV Hybrid. I would say that is more expensive, so if you are doing it to save money on gas, it''s probably not worth it. And it also depends on how you drive it. It supposedly stays in electric mode if you are generally driving 35 mph or less, and doing a lot of stopping and starting. Once you are driving fast, or on freeways, it is just like the regular SUV.
Now, I live 5 mins from where I work, and rarely get on the freeway. We usually drive DH''s car on weekends. So for me, I rarely have to fill up- maybe once a month. So I don''t have to buy gas as often. And I partly got it b/c I wanted an SUV, but feel guilty about it, so it is a compromise for my conscience. Which hubby thinks is totally stupid, but it makes me feel better.
I have to say, I like the Lexus, but I much prefer BMW and their service. My experience with Lexus has NOT been great, and I am really surprised by that. I had heard such great things about it. It obviously depends on which dealer you go to, but still.
Now everyone else that has this car (and I seem to know a lot of them!) loves it- hybird or non-hybrid version.
