Peanut Butter Cups and Gummy Lifesavers. (Confession: these are some of my personal favorites.)

We don''t have trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood (no sidewalks or street lights). I usually go to my parents'' and it''s whatever they choose to pass out, which is usually full sized candy bars.

Something chocolate so I can eat it all when we get no trick or treaters!

We bought some halloween candy for our housewarming last week, so we have a ton of tootsie rolls and tootsie pops (with the yummy orange, vanilla, lime, and lemon flavored minis picked out) and a few fun sized snickers left, so that will get mixed in with whatever we buy. I think I''ll probably throw in a mix of something chocolate (reese''s cups!) and some startburst...though I saw a wille wonka mix with nerds...yumm!!

Hope this isn''t a threadjack - but can y''all also post quantity? Last year we had zero trick or treaters (6 blocks from where we live now) but our neighbor said that we can expect quite a few. We have no idea how much candy that means.

HI:

This is a quandry for me--with all the additives and melamine scares these days, I am afraid to give anything. I''d go to our local chocolatiere and get the handmade stuff, but they don''t make Halloween sized treats.....

Sharon, DH and I were talking about this today - there used to be a couple houses in my neighborhood that would give out a soda or hot chocolate. That house was always such a welcome sight because with all the running door to door, I''d get so thirsty! Maybe you could give out all natural juice boxes?

HI:

I know what you are saying about giving out drinks--but would the kids really "want"/appreciate them? Would that be like getting apples and raisins--not terribly high on the desirable list b/c it is not really a "treat"? This puts me to mind--I live close to two great health food markets--I could go there and check out what htey have for organic chocolate treats!

cheers--Sharon

Ooh, I almost forgot!! Dunno what I''m going to hand out yet. I know we have A LOT of kids in the neighborhood. One of our neighbors told us he had upwards of 100 kids coming by last year.

How much candy would you need for that??

I bought huge bags of snack-sized candy bars at Target. This is our first Halloween in our new house, and everyone tells us that we get hundreds of kiddos.
Hubby''s already made a sizeable dent in the bags, so next year I''ll know to not buy anything until the day of Halloween!

This is what in the mix:
Snickers
Twix
Butterfinger
100 Grand
Starburst
Milky Way

I think we got Reese's PB Cups and Kit Kat bars, just two bags. Last Halloween, we only got 4 trick or treaters.

Well, I bought some Reese's and Almond Kisses...

but we ate them.

So we bought some more Reese's and Peanut M&Ms and haven't opened them yet!

Last year we didn't get any Trick or Treaters (we live in an apartment) so its mostly just wishful thinking for us.

last yr we only had about a dozen kids came by.

Last year, we had 130 kids!! I was so happy! I was living in a real city neighborhood with side walks and blocks and blocks of houses! It was the best!!!

Over the summer, we moved to the country. No sidewalks. No streetlights. I'll be surprised if we get 6 trick-or-treaters at our house.

Nevertheless, we will have snickers and kit kats available and hopefully, we'll be pleasantly surprised.

We live in a small condo complex, and there aren''t too many kids who go trick or treating here. We haven''t had a single person stop by in the three years we''ve lived here, so we stopped buying candy. If we had people stopping by though, I''d definitely get candy that I didn''t like, such as Butterfingers or any non-chocolate treat. That way, if we had extras, I wouldn''t be tempted to eat it.

I hit the Costco and load up a cart of king sized goodies....

This year our candy buffet includes:

Snickers
Milky way
Take 5
Crunch Bar
Milk Duds
M&M''s

And for the kids closest to us, we buy all sorts of treats for them above and beyond...

Halloween is really a holiday for us...and we love it!
