No. Not at all. Neil isn't working on your stone. He's looking at it. There's no risk of damage.

You aren't having it appraised for switching. If you even think for a SECOND that anyone, appraiser, jeweler, FRIEND would do that you DO NOT give them your ring. EVER.

You are having it sent to Neil for A) an attestation of the stone's condition before it is sent to get a new setting, and for him to confirm it is in that exact condition with no damage after it is set, and B) for a full appraisal for your insurance because the value of your ring will have (significantly) increased.

That's why you are sending it to Neil.

And sweetie. Neil's entire business is his reputation. NO average diamond is worth so much to him, let alone your cushion, that he would lose his head over it. Finally, when you get it back, YOU have responsibility to check everything over yourself. That's why you need to get to know your stone a little better.

ALSO, please send the stone CERTIFIED MAIL through USPS, only. Safest way for an individual to mail their jewelry. Takes time, but is safe.

Pretty self explanatory. Unless the quote says that it is inclusive of engraving, filigree or single cuts then it doesn't include any of those options.

Thank you Gypsy. I am still between VC and SK. But i have still time, as my diamonds are on evaluation process.
I am really excited to get my ring done, it was a long time since I've been researching about ring I like. First I was impressed with Halo (yellow diamond) from those cruise island stores, then with Grace Vatche ( my friend got from her fiance), now with micro pave Halo Vc and SK. How far i can go??

hi as gypsy said, we are going with SK. His quotes were right in the middle of others we got (VC was just way too much in my opinion) but I just like his work a lot and everything I've seen has been beautiful. And I've yet to hear or read one negative comment about him. Everyone I've talked to and who has used him for their ring has been very very happy. SK is also very responsive and explains everything which I like. That's why we chose him

IMO, single cuts are worth every penny. I wouldn't have it any other way unless I was going with a round brilliant, or some other modern cut center stone.

I think there must be a sliding scale in terms of pricing / cut quality. Also, add into the mix that each jeweler has their own markup. Its pretty difficult to assess why jeweler x charges more than jeweler y unless you know all the variables (ie. supplier). On average, I believe poor quality single-cut stones are cheaper than full cut, but the demand/supply for high quality melee drives the premium above full cut.

Because they are rarer. Long and short of it.

If you go with single cut melee be sure you buy 8-10 stones from your vendor in the event something happens to your ring, so you have matching melee to replace the existing stone.

I've had both single cuts in my halo and now have full cuts. There is a difference, but for the ease of replacement I prefer full cut. For the look, I prefer single cuts. Still, I have full cuts ow and am very happy.
