What is your nighttime ritual?

Mine takes about an hour

. Turn portable heater on in bedroom and close door
. Make bed
. Put in first Rx eyedrop (I have glaucoma)
. Wash dishes, clean kitchen
. Brush teeth
. Clean tongue
. Floss Teeth - (I never miss a day) I take my time and do a meticulous job
. Brush teeth again to remove plaque flossing loosened
. Drink water
. Fill CPAP machine with water (got sleep apnea too)
. Turn off Christmas lights
. Take dogs out to pee
. Take shower or just wash up if I took a shower that morning
. Put in second Rx eyedrop
. Turn off portable heaters in living room
. Turn aquarium lights off
. Put dogs in crate in heated bedroom
. Put bird in heated bedroom too
. Change into PJs
. Put in earplugs
. Put on CPAP mask
. Lay down

then i watch CNBC business news til 2:00am before i hit the sack.

(this is my winter nightitime ritual)
turn on heater and electric blank an hour before bed time
put t-shirt on heater
place clothes (work out and day) to wear tomorrow in bathroom
take out contacts
wash face, put on night cream
brush teeth, toothpicks
put bottle of water next to bed
put on warm t-shirt
turn off heater
turn off electric blanket
turn off lights (leave hallway lights on for DH)
turn on alarm clock
pass out

DH can''t fathom how one minute after my head hits the pillow I am already sleeping.

Take dog out.
Check that baby is actually asleep.
Put on pajamas and wash up.
Play on computer for an hour or so while watching tv.
Get in bed and read for an hour or so while dh watches tv if he isn''t already asleep.
Turn lights out and watch one more half hour of tv while falling asleep.

My ritual is very much a ritual. If I miss a step, I can't sleep.

I put JT to bed and then go into my room (which has the door closed during the day to save on heating) and start up the portable heater on HIGH!)
Clean kitchen, fold laundry and straighten living room because I can't stand to wake up to a mess.
Lock doors twice.
Then I either read or watch TV for a bit.
Turn off all lights except those that DH will require.
Peek in on JT and say a prayer.
Go to bathroom and take out eyes (as I call my contacts) wash face, occasionally mask, and moisturize. Brush teeth and gag on the toothbrush. Bemoan the wrinkles and gray hairs that have no right to be on my 30 yr old body.
Pee and turn off heater.
Climb into bed with another book after meticulously straightening sheets. There are to be no wrinkles!! Also turn on small heating pad in bottom of bed with auto 30 minute shut off.
After 15 minutes of reading, get up and pee again (I'm pregnant.)
Get back in bed and pray.
Smack pillow around a bit to show it who's boss.
Sleep.


Then comes the fun part. DH gets off work late and arrives home about 2:30 am.

Door wakes me up, creaking floorboards irritate me. DH whispers "Honey, I'm home" I roll my eyes.
DH gets in shower and smells up the place with his shampoo and deodorant (that I currently can't stand the smell of)
DH gets into bed.
I pee again.
DH will usually rub my shoulders ( I take back my eye roll)
DH falls asleep and snores like a chain saw.
I kick, nudge and beg DH to roll over. Sometimes he does.
Now I start the "I only have 4 hours to sleep" countdown.
Pee again just hoping that I'll get an extra bit of sleep.

By the time this is done, I've started at 9pm and ended at 4am. I'm so tired.

Wow. Uh let''s see. Brush teeth, try to find my way to bed from the bathroom in the darkness. Bump into things, trip over things, find bed. Determine where chihuahua is in bed under the covers. Move her so her nails are pointed at DH not me. Toss and turn a few times. Try to get DH to give up part of his share of bed so I have more room to toss and turn some more. Adjust chihuahua a couple more times. That''s about it.

Callie, is being a pain, she hits me upside the head in the moring, so has be deprived of being on my bed... She is awake at 6:00, and wants to play.. It''s very cute, but day after day , it gets old. Guess she didn''t get the memo on the time change.

About an hour later make my last post on PS finally go to bed after making sure doors are locked
