Just click on link, then on Begin Test.

What kind of service do you have? such as cable, dial up, fiber optic, Direct TV etc.
Is it at home or work?

My DL was 15.93 but my upload was only 2.04. This is with a wireless connection on a laptop.

I don't think it's fast at all, so I'm assuming these aren't good numbers. We've got cable, Mediacom. We "upgraded" to faster speed and haven't noticed a lick of difference. (supposed to be about 4 times faster)

ETA
Oops I thought it would post the picture.
Ping 70/ms, Download 4.70 mb/s, upload, 0.94 mb/s

I see now when I look closer it's graded C-, slower than 59% of the US. Bah. Part of that maybe is being out in the middle of nowhere.

Gee, you mean the browser changes it too.

What a hassle.
I use Safari.
I guess I should switch to Chrome.

I don't know what it means, but my computer got a C+.

I'm at home using a wireless connection. AT&T UVerse. DH keeps on calling to complain, they say it's supposedly the best service available. Doesn't look like it!

Mine is terrible...Ping 23, DL 4.18, UL 4.02. That's pretty much what I expected from Comcast. They promise much better speeds, but I've consistently noted crappy speeds to the point that I can't have a skype conversation, and streaming videos have to buffer all the time.

ETA: I checked the Comcast website, and while the upload is what I'm supposed to be getting, my download speed is supposed to be up to 20 Mbps. And I'm only getting 4...wonder what's wrong...

Check your modem. If it's not a Docsis 3.0 modem, that might be why.

Oh, good call! Thanks! I have an old D-Link modem. I didn't want to pay the $3/month or whatever it is to rent one from Comcast. I wonder if there's a cheaper plan I could get, now knowing that my speed is limited by my modem...hmm.....

I'm in China rocking the high speed!

ping 278 ms
upload .44 Mbps
download .96 Mbps

ETA - I guess that was bouncing off LA... I'm doing it again using Shenyang which is a city about 3 hours from here... not many major servers around here I guess! This city is only 7 million people - doesn't warrant its own server lol

Ping - 1140ms
DL - 0.18Mbps
UL - 0.05Mbps

bahahahaha

Yikes.
I hope you don't play video games online.
I hear Internet is censored in China.
What is your experience on that, if I can ask?

I used to play world of warcraft and I was an awesome raid level resto shammy... but yeah um, this is the improvement speeds... i stopped playing almost 2 years ago because my lag was sometimes 2000 or even 4000 (2-4 seconds). You can't play like that.

As for the internet being censored oh heck yeah it is. First of all you can't access facebook at all unless you have a VPN (which we do) and one of my pastimes is to go to my google personalized page and right click open new tab news stories (a bunch of them) while I don't have the VPN logged in and all of the ones that are listed as "page not found" I reload after I log into the vpn and see what the stories are... what can I say? I'm easily amused :)

I think we have DSL here.

It's pitiful at best and mediocre at worst. Tonight DL is .20. Upload is .25. It is better on some evenings than others. It comes in from the street and feeds 400+ apts. No other option. The cable company wont improve the feed as there is NO competition here and who's going to make them? Every time I ask or complain, I basically get told TIA (this is Africa).

Lady, do you realize how fast you were going?

Wow, that's incredibly fast.
I'll bet you never have to wait for anything.

I looked into my modem a little more, and I found out that it's DOCSIS 2.0 but not 3.0, whatever that means. The max DL speed is supposed to be 38, but I guess it doesn't like Comcast, because I'm still not getting more than 5.
