What is your first feeling/thought when you wake up in the morning?

These days, mine is something like "Ugh!"

But then I have a little mental pep talk: (1) Everyone in my family and I are okay right now. (2) The end of the pandemic and the end of that other unmentionable USA terror are both now clearly in sight. (3) Just stay calm and hold on a while longer. Then I go start the coffee.

Yours?

We’re still alive!

Seriously, I think we’re so used to the situation now, that I just get up and get on with the day. ATM we’re in the processing of repainting our entire house in anticipation of selling up and moving next year, so our thoughts are what are we doing today, and let’s get cracking.

“Don’t want to get up”

“Have to go wake E (our oldest son) for school”

“Why is the cat sleeping on my hip?!”

My first thoughts are not at all about the current situation, I think because of pandemic fatigue.

I literally check my “vitals” every morning. I open my eyes and swallow, and think ok do I have a sore throat? Am I stuffy? Do I have a cough?

Sometimes I wake up feeling a bit stuffy or headachy, but it doesn’t send me into a panic like it used to. I am allergic (but hopelessly devoted) to my cat, so these symptoms aren’t unusual.

“Why can’t I ever sleep past 3:30 in the morning?”

This morning it was, “Omg, there won’t be enough room in the bins for all of the leaves in our front yard!”

It depends. We’ve a lot happening atm so when I wake and get up it’s just with a mind to accomplish all I must for the day. And to do the best I can. One day, one hour at a time.

That and oh it’s time for coffee! Coffee. Ahhhhh.

On days I have to work, my first thought when my alarm rings is “You’ve gotta ****** kidding me!!” I also involuntarily scream it out sometimes, not gonna lie. Lol

Mine are similar to yours lmao. Especially thought 1!!

My thought 2 though is, "Is the baby up??? Can I lie here for another 10 minutes??" XD

Thought 3 is "Bro get off my foot!" (Cat lol)

Then I start reading PS until I know my baby is awake with a noise and time to start our day.

How do my legs and feet feel? Can I stand up now or do I need to stretch them for awhile?

I have coffee with my husband every morning and play with the cats and my first thought is how lucky I am to be able to do this every morning.

Bed is cozy and warm. I wonder how much longer I can stay covered until I have to get up to my laptop for work. I feel spoiled that I only need to get up 15 minutes before starting work. I can stay in my jammies, I can walk downstairs to get my coffee later in the morning, etc.

“I have a headache”. Almost every single morning this time of year I have a migraine right before I wake up.

Oh dear, Aprilbaby.. I'm so sorry you have to endure this. They are the worst.. I used to get them before menopause..my cousin gets botox, which helps her enormously.

I can go back to bed as I don't have a meeting until later in the day!

DK :oops2: :lol-2:

"Where's the phone? Gotta call Australia...."

I wake up every morning between 4 and 5am and call my best girlfriend in Australia. I sleep with the phone on the bed so I don't have to go looking for it in the dark - yet every morning I can never find it. Ergo my first thought.

After we've chatted - normally between 30 minutes and an hour - my head is already up and running and that 'first thought / panic of the morning' thing is long gone. That's a good thing, actually.

“Dogs need to go out” then COFFEE!!

I wake up feeling a little bit of dread and immediately start telling myself that everyone we love and know are doing ok. Once I get out of bed, I feel better. I tend to also begin to worry late at night about it too. It’s gotten a little worse the past few weeks because cases are rising in our area.

I wake up and this is what I do in order:
1) Quick prayer for a good day ahead (teen drama free)
2) Ask my dh to take my dog out because he is an early bird and usually dressed by the time I wake up.
3) Check my phone to see my meeting schedule

OMG! I didn't die.

A little something along the lines of “no, thank you.” Bed time is literally one of my favorite things.
I always hit snooze but I’m up within 2 minutes once my brain gets going.

I’m sorry you wake up like this @Calliecake Big hugs

I wake up every morning thinking I better get up to make the coffee. My mom will be sitting in the kitchen waiting for me to get up and make it. No...she will not make it herself. :roll2:

That too.... I often have to hope my feet/legs are okay enough to get me across the room to take care of that. Had some rough starts as the gtp was urgent and my feet/legs didn't want to work. Almost funny the sight I make trying to get there  (no, really. I do laugh after the fact!)

Thank you @MamaBee. I get up much quicker than I used to. I’m hoping all our families and loved ones stay safe.

Just in case you thought I was kidding about the cat on my hip....:lol-2:
