I let my FI pick the song. He picked "Flying Without Wings", sung by Reuben Studdard. I like it and strangely enough, I shed some tears everytime I listen to it.

Oh man, this was probably the hardest decision of our wedding! We have lots of "songs", but none of them are really dance songs. We ended up with Can''t Take My Eyes Off You by Frankie Valli, because it''s fun to dance to and because it''s one of those songs that everyone has to sing to (when it goes, "I LOVE YOU BABY! AND IF IT''S QUITE ALRIGHT . . .) Kinda goofy, like us.

My hubby chose our first dance song, and if he hadn''t prefaced its unveiling with just about one of the sweetest tings he''s ever said to me, I would have said NO!

But, it was Brian McKnight''s Back At One. And you know what? The band played it beautifully, it was great.

We haven''t really decided yet, but my pick is "You''re My Best Friend" by Queen -- I love the song and think it''s cute that John Deacon wrote it for his wife. I think FI will approve, we''re both huge Queen fans

I am such a HUGE smashing pumpkins fan! I had always thought about including melloncollie and the infinite sadness in our wedding somewhere but i never quite knew what the song was about, i just thought it was pretty

I think I am going to let FI choose what we dance to (please god don''t let it be something like the theme song to teenage ninja turtles haha) I do know he is planning to sing a song to me at the wedding ceremony. He had a list of 7 of them and he told me one had been The Luckiest by Ben Folds but now that I knew that was one of the songs, that he wouldn''t sing that particular song anymore...maybe that would be a good one? It''s soooo pretty

I really wanted Elvis, and FI wanted some thing unique..this song isnt a typical first dance song (not even a very well-known Elvis song), but the lyrics are perfect

We danced to "somewhere over the rainbow" by Iz. It took us..a year and 9 months to come up with it, but it was perfect. We aren't good dancers, so it was a good swaying song. It's something that everyone can recognize. And it's not a sappy love song.

ETA: I do somewhat regret that I first discovered this song through it being featured in a Rice Krispies ad...but Mr. Basil loves cereal...so we went with it

It was totally churchy...and not our general taste in music, by far...but I stummbled upon it, and the words--they were my feelings for my husband.

I cried the first time I heard it, and I still cry everytime I hear it.

It captured my love for my husband...and thats so special.

Like Zoe, DH and I are huge Van Morrison fans - and my absolute favorite song on the planet is "Into the Mystic" - talk about a feel-good song!

DH and I danced to that song - we got so caught up into the song that it felt like no one else was in the room as we sang the song to each other....it was a great moment

Haha, my friend who''s getting married next month is also doing Tonight Tonight as their first dance! Her FI is a big Smashing Pumpkins fan as well. I think he''s even personally arranging the music so that their string quartet can play an instrumental version.

Our first dance song will be "Heartbeat" by Tahiti-80. They''re a French pop band that FI introduced me to when we first met. He first saw them in Paris, then they did a rare US tour a couple years ago and we got to see them live. We even went up to the lead singer afterwards and jokingly asked if he''d play at our wedding if they were still together in 5 years (we weren''t engaged yet), and he said "of course!" Too bad they''re based in France...Otherwise I TOTALLY would''ve have tried to get them to come play...sigh.

Ahhh, we came *this close* to dancing to Into the Mystic. That''s one my favorites by far. Seeing him live was not thrilling -- we were actually really disappointed, but the man can sing and play.

Crystal kreveruik or something like that. lol. I love that song but it wasn''t in the notebook. It was just in a youtube video that someone made with the movie being the inspiration. But it was in How to lose a guy in 10 days.

I can''t believe you guys actually picked out your first dance song. haha. That actually would have been more fun. We just picked Daniel Bedingfield''s "If you''re Not The One." Wasn''t really a question. It has always been "our" song. lol.
