I have some favourite settings but I don't think they'd look the same with a 1ct stone. Inspire me! How would you set a 1ct round? :)

A ring I assume?

What's this for?

If money were no object the Tiffany Soleste: http://www.tiffany.com/engagement/r...ment&search_params=param+0/0/0/0/0/0/GRP10085

Wouldn't mind the regular 6 prong Tiffany setting either: http://www.tiffany.com/engagement/r...ment&search_params=param+0/0/0/0/0/0/GRP10001

Somewhat more practically, the BGD Sarah: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/engagement-rings/pave-and-side-stones/sarah-halo-platinum-5493p

And the CVB Dahlia: https://www.etsy.com/listing/237538848/cvb-dahlia-solitaire-setting (there was a lot of drama about this design which you can find here on PS, but it is a very pretty ring)

Finally, this is what I'd actually buy with my own money (with the 25% discount of course): https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...old-cathedral-star-engagement-ring-item-59065

CvB Astrid is also available in a ring. It is one of my favorites! I had my original engagement diamond set in an Astrid pendant and it arrives this week! Excited!!!

Platinum.

I'd go with a solitaire

If I had to choose a single setting to be my favorite for all sizes, then it would be a simple Tiffany style solitaire. I have done them for clients from 0.10 cts to over 5 cts and they all looked wonderful, but...

Since I don't have to choose just one, I have too many "favorites" to ever choose just one.

Wink

I agree a simple soli is my favorite. I prefer a move vintage tiffanys to the modern one but still the same

These rings by Greenlake Jewelery, but I'm kind in swirly twirly, organic mood of late.

I'd do a simple halo (delicate melee size) with a simple basket with either a bezeled stone or pronged but definitely a halo with a single row diamond shank. Again, simple & modern not reminiscent of any vintage time frame. For a band, I'd have a matching band to the shank style. Or, a bezeled stone with a milgraine edge, and single diamond melee on the shank. :-)

For a woman, the lowest-cost simplest 6-prong solitaire in white 14K, no rhodium plating.
That leaves more money for (IMO) the whole point ... the diamond.

For a man, a cobalt chrome simple tension setting from Boonerings.
That leaves even more money for an even better diamond.

I like diamonds.
My ideal setting would be invisible and free.
The diamond would just magically hover over the finger.

Leon Mege princessa for a solitaire. But, ya know, I am totally bias'd on this.

- one thing I know I know !

HI:

Niwaka has some of the most gorgeous curved ER's I've seen.

Classic Tiffany solitaire.

cheers--Sharon

If you asked me this question back in 2014, my answer would have been the Vatche U113, classic 6 prong solitare that many PSers have. I considered getting it myself for my CTO CBI diamond at the time.

Fast forward to 2017. Wink now offers a design your own mounting service where you work with a CAD artist to create and finalize a design for your specific diamond, and then Wink has it cast at the same facility that makes Harry Winston rings. I personally have not seen a finished ring yet, hint, hint @Wink , but have seen photos on his HPD Facebook page. They show a very high polish in my opinion.FB_IMG_1506533047189.jpg

I just looked up the Vatche U113 and wow it's expensive. Any reason you wouldn't go custom at that point?

I don't typically like the most super cheap stock setting out there. It's like putting a pretty girl in a paper sack.
With effort and patience you can find used monunts for just about as cheap and better quality. A cheap ass ja one is 190 ish. My forever setting that took me 5 months to find sad $80 bucks more. This is just my opinion and sure if you don't have time or $80 breaks your budget stock isn't the worst idea. I've worn a temporary stock setting. But as I know you aren't in need of it for a proposal (assuming it's for you here) I wouldn't bother with one.

VC Emilya halo.

6 prong solitaire, though I seem to be into bezels lately.

6 prong solitaire or bezel solitaire.

Just one? :) - That is simply too hard. I do LOVE reading all the opinions in this thread though!
