What is wrong with this diamond?!

The stone may be tilted, but it would be good if one of the vendors can comment.

100 score looks very off to me - cannot wait for experts advice

But what's wrong with it? I also thought that it could not get rated excellent for symmetry if it is so off but again I don't know much. I'm really curious what causes the images to look this way.

I still think the stone looks slightly tilted. But regardless, great numbers on a report do not guarantee perfect cut on the images. That is why we ask for them. They may need to redo the images for this stone if they want to sell it.

After looking at some images of diamonds with good numbers I understand why they are so important now.

I would be curious to look at the actual cert which does not appear to be available in the listing. It could be that the data in the listing is mismatched with the images. Or the cut score was misapplied to this diamond.

Most likely it is correct and represents a good example of how GIA Triple EX is very broad and if you are looking for top cut quality you need to see more information about the diamond.

The Ex symmetry grade on a lab report is related to an assessment of the consistency of contiguous facets and their "meet points". It is not an assessment of optical precision which is often referred to as optical symmetry or 3D symmetry. That is how well facets align with their counterparts on the opposite side in 3D space. That type of alignment (or lack thereof) is what we see when we look at reflector images such as H&A. High precision in this area indicates that the diamond is properly "tuned" for optimal performance.

Thanks for the great input Bryan. Just wanted to clear up a few pieces of information that may have been miscommunicated. Actual certs are available to all registered users. Users must register so that we can help promote fair competition in the online marketplace. We double checked, the images and cut score are correctly listed for this item. Looking at the numbers, we believe this is a case of not all images being created equally.

But the images do seem to be consistent from one to another. (?)

Regarding the statement "we believe this is a case of not all images being created equally", do you see that as problematic in that shoppers are counting on them to provide accurate information?

yes they do indicate the same thing.
A full sarin file would prove most interesting.
My educated guess is there is a wide range in the pavilion angles.

How does hiding the reports create "fair competition in the online marketplace"?
