Hey Everyone

I was wondering about the sidestones in this setting. Is this what you call a 4 prong setting? I´m looking for something secure.

Many Thanks

if i were describing it, yes, I would call it a 4 prong setting. pictures are always helpful though if you are trying to communicate something to a custom benchperson/vendor.

what''s wrong with the pictures of mara''s ring? isn''t that the exact look you''re going for?

I like the overall look of Mara´s 4 prong but the view from the side seems really jagged looking to me ( see below) so when I came across the picture in the previous post I thought maybe I would go with that type of four prong. I was just wondering if the 4 prong in the picture above would be as secure as Mara´s 4 prong.

Any thoughts on that?

Thanks

so are you looking for something that is less maintenance more security? any settings with sidestones held by prongs, there is a likely hood that diamonds may get lost and may require more maitenance up keep. are you only interested in prongs set sidestones? have you thought about channels? or bezeled? beadset channels. dunno just asking.

It looks as if the diamonds in the top ring are smaller than in the lower image. The prongs are less deeply carved out of the metal, so they look less invasive, but it may just be the diamond size is dictating the way the prongs must be fashioned. The size of the side stones and the width of the shank the stones will be set into will determine how visible the prongs must be.
