I have a diamond ring that I would like to sell and I am looking for opinions as to how much I can reasonably expect to get for it, how/where I can sell it, etc. It is a very simple round cut diamond in a basic setting. I expect that I will offer it to a jewelry store to sell on consignment in order to get the best price, from what I can tell after reading the FAQ on this forum and from asking around a few places that is probably my best option.

Here are the specs for this diamond as stated on the appraisal document (PGS consultation) which came with the ring when I purchased it.

Variety: Top Ideal Cut Diamond
Species: Natural Diamond
SHape and Cut: Round Brilliant Cut
Dimensions: 5.93 - 5.96 x 3.64mm
Carat Weight: 0.782 ct.
Clarity Grade: SI1
Color Grade: H
Comments: Top Ideal Cut. Stone displays a Hearts and Arrows pattern.

I am hoping that someone here can give me their opinion on what I should expect to get from selling this diamond. I realize that I will get much less than what I originally paid which was around $5000. I am located in Boulder, Colorado in case that makes any difference. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Hi Mono,

The diamond doesn''t have a GIA report?

Thanks for your opinion.

So if I find a jeweler who offers me $2000 on consignment I should probably take it?

I don''t have it in my records, maybe it''s on file at the jewelers where I bought the ring. I assume that it would behoove me to obtain a copy of it if so. Thanks for the heads up.
