Please explain what Palladium is??? Is it platinum or gold???? Will it stay white like platinum or turn warm yellow like gold....

It is a naturally occurring white metal (unlike white gold which is made white by combining gold and various naturally white metals). It is number 46 on a periodic table of elements and is in the platinum family. Pd will stay white, like platinum, and will develop a patina over time. It''s cost is somewhere between that of platinum and gold.

Yeah!! Thank you !! :) I was soooo confused :)

There is a small section about Palladium in this article

It''s price, currently anyway, is about the same as white gold, not anywhere near platinum. At least for wedding bands.

Oh, where? Sometimes I find Pd prices are the same as Pt prices and other times they are much closer to that of gold. I''m looking (casually I swear!

) for a band. I hope more jewellers start to use it!

I''m noticing the price fluctuation, too!!! I''m thinking it must be due to the fact that hydrogen fuel cell technology is taking off. According to the info on the periodic table of elements, Pd can absorb up to 900x its own weight in hydrogen. I would guess the price will be climbing up towards the Plat. range as alternative energy sources become more popular. I really do believe we''re going to leave behind the days when Palladium and Gold are close in price, and see a market where platinum and palladium run neck and neck....

Ironically the price of the metal itself is much less than the price of gold. However, the cost to work it is higher than that of gold as it requires higher temperatures etc so the finished product is usually a little more than gold but much less than Platinum.
