Could someone tell me what a DJL Certification is?

Diamond...Laboratory?

don't do it. just back away...

Never heard of them. Ditto to JulieN.

I have seen on Diamondringforever.com that their stones are
Diamond Jewelry Laboratory certified

Please can some one help? I have been looking for a stone 3 to 4 carats and I have read about GIA,EGL, AGS but I am coming across this DJL Certifications on various sites. The people on this site seem to know their stuff. What is DJL? I have seen others ask but no true answers...

Help

Not a lot points to DJL here. This does...but the imbedded link from the Belgium lab is not current any more.

We haven''t heard of DJL. You have seen other''s ask but no true answers?? That means they don''t know either.
Stick with AGS, GIA and if you go with EGL make sure it''s EGL USA.

This same question has been asked at least three times over several years on Pricescope and no one ever seems to know much about this firm. I suppose one might infer that no news is somewhat good news because if there was a real problem we'd have discussed it on Pricescope. The Diamond Jewelry Laboratory remains pretty much unexplained and unrated. If you want assurance of a lab acting in a proper and unbiased manner, then you must go with those who enjoy a good, public and open reputation. Some of the major labs like GIA, AGS, AGTA(for color) are obvious, but these big guys don't do much of more retail consumer oriented evaluation work. You have many far smaller firms active here which specialize in consumer needs and most everyone has heard about them. Informed consumers know to trust reputation over high priced advertising schemes and to make an effort to avoid taking risks that are not necessary.

I have to respectfully disagree. No news is BAD news. The burden is on the lab to convince shoppers that they should be interested in their opinions, not the other way around, and the default answer is NO. Anyone who wants to can call themselves a gem lab, produce a fancy looking document and say whatever they want on it. The key is that consumers don’t have to care. When deciding whether or not to rely on an expert opinion in making an important decision, the very first thing to consider is the credibility of the expert and I consider it a very bad sign if the expert has no history or they make their history difficult to research.
