Just wondering. I am so naive that I thought the man was suuposed to pay for both wedding bands.

He doesn''t like to wear jewelry and if the choice was his, he would go bandless. My ring is a halo with a pave band (when I get it). I wanted to get him something more than just a plain white gold band. I want him to have some ice too. Do you think $1000 is a nice budget???

Is there anyone on here that did not buy the husband''s band?

Has he told you want he wants? My FI is a nothing fancy, no fuss kinda guy. He doesn't want white metal OR diamonds, though he does want a certain finish...a hammered finish. His band, in yellow gold, will be $250.00.

I think $1000 is a pretty generous budget IF you know he wants something fancier (platinum with a diamond or two?). Otherwise, you can get a plain WG or YG band for around $150.00.

ETA: I see that you want to get him something with diamonds, but to be completely honest, I'd make sure it's something he wants. If he doesn't like jewelry, I'd bet he wouldn't want diamonds. My FI doesn't like jewelry and would be horrified if I presented him with a diamond band (or even a band with a single diamond in it!). Perhaps get him something plain yet cool (titanium?) and maybe a nice watch?

FI surprised me by liking bands with diamonds too. I got a quote for a white gold band with a baguette (.18 points) It looks burnished but I think it is channel set. Anyways the quote was $1250 HTH!

I didn''t buy my husband''s band ''cause i was still finishing school and not working at the time. Had I had a job, i would''ve wanted to pay for his band. I think $1000 is nice budget, DH''s plain platinum band was about $500.

You'd better make sure that he likes bling. When my DH and I were engaged he was somewhat like your fiancee to the point where he told me just to go get him a ring cause he hated shopping. I'd already picked out a very nice band with about .30 worth of diamonds in the band but I wanted him to see it and I didn't know what size to order anyway so I needed him to go with me and try on a ring sizer. Thank goodness I did!! He took one look at the ring I picked out and before I could tell him that it was my choice for him he said "eww, no freakin' way!! no diamonds!" He did spend more time looking and decided that he didn't want just a plain gold band but did like a woven style gold band. I think it was about $279. Young and broke I put the ring on layaway since he wouldn't need it for 7 months!! I still laugh about that now. A few years later he'd outgrown the original wedding band and his original couldn't be sized without destroying the design so we picked him a new band and he still nixed the diamonds--still not his style. We went with another style braided gold band and he loves it. This time we had the cash at hand to pay the $475 that the nicer gold band cost.

2 months gross salary is the ideal amount to spend on a Men''s wedding band.

Hi Stink Pink,
emrose.gif

Well, first ... find out if he is actually going to wear a band on a regular basis. Some men I have heard for working reasons, or comfort reasons ... don''t like wearing one. If he isn''t going to wear one on a regular basis, I''d spend about $500 or less.

Second, I would find out if he is going to wear one on a regular basis, does he ... or ... does he not want a diamond or diamonds in his ring. Also, find out if he wants gold or plat. The price of plat and gold are very high now ... a mans ring will run you at least $500 for a pretty nice quality ring.

Third, does he have any metal or alloy allergies? My hubby has to wear Titanium. He wasn''t so keen on the thought that he would like a dingy titanium band, and we found out that there are different grades, different finishes, and different colors. He was picky in one way, he wanted something classic, clean lines, and simple. He was easy, and easy on my pocket book ... I think his ring was about $180.00. I felt awful and wanted to get him something else, so I splurged another $1,400.00 on a electric guitar ... which he is playing in the background right now ...

. I love it when he plays his acoustic

and serenades me

.... OOOOuuuu, makes me melt! (The acoustic was a christmas present).

My husband has been a no diamond kind of guy until recently, he did see a very handsome plat man''s ring that had a small tension set princess diamond in it, and said "Maybe someday, I might like something like that to wear if it was in Titanium." I think he is making progress!

I think $1,000.00 is a very nice budget to work with. It all depends on what he likes, what he will wear, and finding something that you will be able to afoard.

Best wishes, and good luck!

$1000 is a great budget for a mans wedding band, but it really depends on what he wants. Some plain platinum bands with just a simple design are over that amount...and if he wants diamonds, that will be more...

Sorry DF, not my guy, he doesn't like bling on men and that suits me just fine. More for me!! I love my "just gold" guy just the way he is.

I think 1000 is a realistic budget for a man's ring. It gives you so much to choose from because men's bands can all over the board with price depending on where you go. My husband picked out his band and although we liked it at the time (it is two toned yellow/white gold to match my platinum/yellow gold ring) I did buy him a new one for our 5th anniversary that I love so much better. It's simple and elegant and although he didn't want to make the switch for sentimental reasons after he put it on he decided it was a much better look as well. My husband tried on diamond bands but it just wasn't for him. I'm in agreement with the others...make sure you know what he wants and if he likes bling before purchasing! Good luck!

Edited to answer your question...my husband paid for the band. We had all of our wedding money pooled together and honestly he contributed almost all of it but said it was 'our' money. We never pay cash for our larger purchases always use credit then pay it off...we always feel we have a safe haven with the credit card if something goes awry. It went on his credit card then he wrote the check to pay for it. We never even looked at it as I bought it or he bought it.

I think you and your FI need to go look at and try on some bands. You and he will never know if he is a diamond band guy until he actually tries that band on. And here''s why. DH always said he just want a plain band - no diamonds, no designs. He tries on plain bands at a B&M and he didn''t like it - just look too plain. So then he tried on milgrain band, and he really like the look - very traditional. Then finally we went to MIL''s jeweler, and there he tried on a diamond band and omigod he was converted to a "diamond" guy. His band still look very simple, masculine and modern . And $1000 is a great budget. DH''s band was $600 - 14kt white gold with 6 2-pointers F/VVS diamonds throughout the band.

There are pictures of his band here.

I think $1000 is a fabulous budget! My hubby has been through three wedding bands in the past 2.5 years, though, so I''m biased. He likes to lose things in his recliner, apparently....

HA!!!! Nice try, Hog! I actually wish my FI wanted sumptin'' fancier ... and wider ... he thinks 3 mm or 4 mm is tops - uses the computer/keyboard/hands a lot at work.

SO DO I & I''m all "bring on the bling!"

Thank you for the replies. I was browsing some sites and I emailed him some ring samples. He likes this one so far:
http://www.tiffany.com/shopping/item.aspx?cntry1=1&CategoryID=14&c_id=WEB1&c_it=66H

I like it too, but I think it is over priced. Where can I get this ring for a lesser price? I spotted a titanium band on another site, but it had CZs and not real diamonds. My guess is I can get a similar style for half of this price. I may be wrong.
