What is a pineapple?

I am reading a facinating book on wholesale diamond trade on 47th street.In a chapter on factors that deal with cut,a dealer is offering a buyer a "pineapple"...is this an off cut diamond?As the buyer responds that this" pinapple isnt apples or oranges after all."If it helps the stone had been determined earlier to be lasered...ive never heard the term from any wholesaler ive delt with in the past!

From what you just described from the book, it sounds like they''re just saying that a "pineapple" is a diamond so much better or different than the rest that it can''t be compared to the usual "apple and orange" diamonds.
