You knew the earth was going to end in 24 hours.
You can spend those 24 hours with:

1: any one living person on earth
2: a 500 ct diamond

The question: what kind of setting would the diamond be in?

Hahaha.

I''m telling wifey2be on you.

DH''s hand!

I would be with James Bond, and the diamond would be the key peice in a lazer-driven anti-doomsday device that we would use to save the world at the last second.

After that I''d propably have leon make a nice platinum pendant setting....or a scepter (realy it''s a toss-up).

But if I might take a ride on your coattails:

If you had 24 hours to live would you take 1hr out of that time to kill a person who had hurt you or another person so badly that you had previously wanted them dead but feared civil consequences? Essentially would you sacrifice 1hr of your time left with friends or family to settle a score?

Ohhhh, Steal, that''s a good question!

That''s a no--brainer! A 500 carat Octavia in a basic claw prong platinum setting - no side stones or pave.

No. I am rabidly right to life. i couldn''t kill ANYONE.

Well, I''d hardly choose the diamond to be cozy with for the final 24 hours of ''life as we know it''.

If I can choose only one person, it will be my husband. More than one person, my family.

Damn. If I get a 500 ct diamond, attach that bad boy to a vibrator and call me happy!

Karl, are we assuming this is an AGS Ex/Ex/Ex (or insert fancy cut of choice), or is this just any old 500 ct. diamond? Because I wouldn''t give up a moment with my honey for a 500 ct. Lopsy Fugs, no matter how rare. But a 500 ct. transitional or step cut and I might just be tempted...

No way!

1) the Earth is ending! For everyone! The way I see it, I'll get what I'd hoped for in another hour anyway and he'll get what's coming to him, so there's no need to squander the last hour I have with my family trying to accomplish what will already happen. I don't need to do it; the universe is delivering the karmic smack on my behalf.
2) If I did, he's winning AGAIN because he's depriving my family of our last hour together. Doesn't feel like a win for me.
3) Settling scores rarely feels as good as we imagine it does, I think. In fact, I'd go so far as to suppose that it likely leaves one feeling empty because the driving purpose one's had is then completed and there is nothing left to replace it with.

ETA: It occurs to me that your revision doesn't stipulate the Earth ending, so in your scenario, it's possible that only *I* have 24 hours to live. If that's the case, still no way.

a. Again, if I did, he's winning AGAIN at my family's expense - not an option.
b. No matter what he does, he WILL die someday (because we all do) so I don't really need to do it at my/my family's expense.
c. Again, setting the score would likely not feel as liberating as I'd imagine.

It would be in ''someone else''s'' setting. I''d rather spend the time with my husband.

It really is true - you can''t take it with you, and diamonds can''t hug back.

Great answers Alj. I did intend that the question would mean that the world would continue so thanks for spotting that.

For me I would do it. No question.

I could never kill someone. I would be more bothered about the afterlife and wouldn''t want to risk that

no way - I''m not a vengeful murderer because I don''t want to live for even one day with the memory of watching someone''s life leave their body at my hand - has nothing to do with getting caught.

I like this answer but I have to say scepter - really. All the way.

I would most definitely spend my last 24 hours with my husband. And our dogs

If given the chance, I would not kill anyone.

I choose my beloved...the one who loves me no matter what....my best friend....the love of my life...my dog!
