I have a problem, and I''d love to some guidance please. Basically, I hate my job. I took a leave of absence from my old job when my husband''s job was transferred to a new part of the country. At the time, I thought it was better to take a leave of absence than to resign all together -- just to be on the safe side. If things didn''t work out here, I knew I''d have a job to return to. We moved, and I was able to find a new job without a problem, luckily. I''m trying to adjust but not having much success. So much more is demanded of me, which could be good, but in my mind, it''s not necessary. I feel very micromanaged, which is something I''m not used to. I don''t know if it''s partly the culture in my line of work here or if it''s my boss, or if it''s just how it is in general. I cry all the time, and I''m just plain not happy. I had it pretty good at my old job, and part of me wants to move back and go back to what I''m familiar with. My husband doesn''t want to move back to the same area though. If we return to the state we left, he''d like to settle in the area where we first met (an hour or so away from where we lived before moving). Our families live within 30-60 minutes or so of where we''d think about moving to. By the way, although my husband''s not thrilled with his job right now either, he may prefer to stay in this area (not this town though). This kind of complicates things. I want to be fair to him. I''m miserable though. I''ve determined what''s important to me. My husband doesn''t see it quite as I do.

So here are the options as I see them. Unfortuantely, I can''t quit my job now. I need to stick it out until June.

1. Leave in June (or when our lease ends in August) and return to life as we know it -- me at my old job and my husband at a new one (that he''d have to get prior to moving).
2. Leave in June (or when our lease ends) and move to the area we met -- where we''d both have to look for new jobs.
3. Stick it out here. It will get better once we''re more settled with our jobs and routines become familiar. One or both of us could either stay put or we could both look for different jobs here.

I''ve thought this through, but I apologize if my thoughts sound jumbled. I wanted to get my thoughts out. If anyone has any advice, I''d love to hear it. Thank you!

you quit !!

We need the money and I need to work so I can''t just quit.

While keeping this job, browse for another job you may like more. If you are only living there until June (or August), then I don''t see the big deal in sucking it up for awhile. I totally understand, it sucks, but it isn''t forever and you know it, so you can look forward to next summer!

To be honest, I think you need to stick it out. Look for a new job- maybe you''ll be able to find one that suits you better. If you don''t, it sounds like you already have a back up plan that''s workable.

I know it''s really hard to work at a job that you don''t love, or even like, when you''ve had one you really do. I''m experienced something similar in the past year and it''s hard. It''s certainly not ideal to be this type situaion, but you have to remember that in the big scheme of things, it''s temporary. Eventually, you''ll have a new job and this will all be a distant memory....

ditto...

Thank you for the suggestions. I wouldn''t begin looking for a job until the late winter or early spring, so I know I have to stick it out for many more months if I decide to look elsewhere.

If you were in this situation, do you think you would go back to where you came from (after one year in your job) or take on the challenge of staying in a new area for a longer period of time?

Thank you again!

I''m in a similar position right now (not liking my job), so I can commiserate, but I agree with Monkeypie. I think you should just stick with it for the time being. I could see there being a bigger issue if you were there forever, but this is somewhat temporary. Gook luck!
