Wow, a parrot did that??? I'm impressed (and horrified!). Growing up, our parakeet pecked our puppy on the nose and she bore the scars til the day she died (though she did stay away from the bird after that episode). Our current dog, Zoe, tends to get confused between her toys and the kids toys. A particular favorite is our son's stuffed elephant, Emily. Zoe (the dog) will go into Nate's room, jump up on the bed, grab Emily and bring her back to whatever room we're in...she's made a game of it....she's never actually chewed Emily, just slobbered all over her. It's like she knows it's one of Nate's treasured belongings and she would never hurt it, she just wants you to know that she could if she wanted to. No pics, btw...I'm too busy retrieving the elephant from the dog and soothing the child's hurt feelings....

it was so sad.. she pecked their eyes out and their chest was all bloody. I dont think she realized she was a bird.. maybe a cat or human, because she loved to snuggle up to the cats when the cats were on top of her cage.

No pictures, but OMG have they destroyed things! A bottle of aspirin, for which I had to call poison control. Plants. Their beds - over and over again. Window blinds. Christmas lights and ornaments (they were stored in a box, not on the tree at the time). I came home one day and they had gotten and opened a bag of spaghetti and it was spread all down the stairs. Their crowning glory was the couch. They have crates now.

My future brother-in-law's puppy (a Rotweiller-German Shepard mix) chewed a hole in my winter boots and my favorite coat while I was staying with them for a week. Given that I don't actually like dogs all that much to begin with, I was not pleased. On the bright side, the adventure really hurt my FI's quest to convince me that we should get a dog!

The most memorable things my wonderful puppy (as pictured to the left) chewed through:

several phone chargers, a pricey smartphone, 2 laptop power cords, 2 leather wallets (she took them out of my purse and chewed them), 2 pairs of sunglasses (got them out of my purse when she took the wallets), several remote controls, an x-box controller

Luckily she is out of the destructive puppy phase.

No pics but our first Golden Retriever chewed the entire arm off a chair in the family room and then chewed the cording off of an antique chair upstairs. He was sooooo proud of himself. When I came home there was stuffing the entire length of the family room and he was sitting in front of the now armless chair all proud of himself, wagging his tail and with stuffing hanging from his mouth. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry so I went upstairs, got a glass of wine and waited to catch him in the act again. The same dog also dug a hole the size of an 8'x8' swimming pool in the yard. He did this in one afternoon and was standing chest high in it when we went outside. I wish I had pictures. That was the only real damage done (puppy time) but otherwise he was the BEST dog on the planet. Sadly, he died suddenly and without warning when he was 9. I still cry when I think of him as he was such a big part of the family.

Our current Golden Retriever (Farley) chewed a couple of baseboards as a puppy but has not ever done any real damage. However, he is the biggest sock thief around. He'll steal socks from the laundry basket (both dirty and clean). He doesn't damage them, but you are constantly picking up socks. Mind you, he is the calmest dog and NEVER barks. As I type this, he is staring at me because he wants a cookie. LOL Guess I better get his cookie -- boy, has he got me trained well!

The bird stories are terrible. I wish I hadn't read them!!! I can't bear to read stories in which animals suffer. So far none of the damage sounds remotely interesting. Even what I can think of my dogs doing isn't in the big leagues. (And that includes a Golden Retriever who as a puppy chewed the kitchen baseboards in one house and, when we moved, an entire window sill in another, then when fully grown who jumped through a panel of a screen porch!) The Golden ate a glass vaginal dilator my mother had had to use after female surgery, too. The Newfoundland "eats" electric razors, but unlike the Golden doesn't completely ingest them. He tears apart throw pillows, but our Lab tore apart all his toys and the Newfie doesn't. The Lab ate wood, then threw up until big chunks came up. Oh, the great memories this is bringing back. I am sure I will remember more!

Yeah...the Golden scared my mother by opening a box of instant pudding mix. My mother thought it was blood. That's like another poster's story. Of course there were shoes, boots, socks, slippers, gloves. The spaniels ate a box of Mounds bars. The Lab got a ham and used it to wax the wooden kitchen floor while trying to gobble it up in a frenzy. The Golden ate 11 out of a dozen doughnuts before I nabbed the platter. And so forth.

The other weekend we went to Costco and bought some paper towels. Well our cat, Sal has found that they're the best stress reliever for his claws and teeth. But we have nowhere else to put them besides in our 2nd bedroom(the door is always open) so I keep seeing that more rolls seem to have...problems. I'll try to take a picture when I get home.
He also started chewing on my Coach purse...It may seriously be my favorite purse(I have two in this style) and oh well...Haha, I'll just try to find another one on Ebay.
Oh, and he love, LOVES getting a hold of our earbuds. If they're left where he can get to them like on our laptops, in my purse...he will chew on the ear pieces and spit them back out, but he's started actually destroying the actual earbud piece.

I guess I could be mad, but man he's so fast and clever!

ETA: We're pretty sure our one cat is a Tea Party member. Around election time we noticed that every piece of mail promoting Democratic candidates was promptly shredded.

Oh lord...my dog has destroyed several pairs my shoes (including a pair of leather boots), most of the toys we give him, a bluetooth headset, and my chance to get a good night's sleep.

My cat has ruined a leather briefcase and a pair of shoes (with urine) and clawed the crap out of our dining room chairs.

They are both lucky they are so damn cute.

ETA: Once they conspired and knocked over the trash can to get to a chicken carcass. They were both in heaven when we got home that night. Our second cat was chewing on plastic wrap. He's not smart enough to destroy anything.

Our beloved Ferris kitty, who we unfortunately had to put to sleep last year, destroyed TONS of furniture with PEE! He was diabetic the last year of his life, which caused him to pee on everything! He ruined papasan chairs, recliners, carpet, everything!

Our new kitten has already broken our blinds, and repeatedly tries to kill our cockatiel.

Well... our youngest (7 month old Millie) chewed a pretty good sized hole through the sheetrock in the guest room. FI patched it and she was doing better.... for a bit. She's now got a much larger section torn up that I'm going to have to patch before she gets all the way through again (I'll see if I can get a picture later)

My little doggie is absolutely the. best. doggie. She's crate trained (crate is pink, btw), and any time she's outside of her crate she's stuck to me like glue and never gets into any trouble. She's pretty much perfect!!!!!

One of my cats has been such a shit lately. He breaks EVERYTHING! ON PURPOSE! AND SOMETIMES WHILE LOOKING STRAIGHT AT US!

He has gotten into this habit that if we are not paying attention to him, or his bowl of food isn't filled up to his desired level, or.. some random thing that he will act out. First he starts yowling down the hallway.. back and forth.. he sounds like a horse when he does it because he gallops. Then, he will find us and jump up on something, look directly at us and play "theory of gravity" where he checks to see if the objects he pushes to the ground still have gravity. THEN after he breaks the item he flies down the hallway again, and hides.

A few days ago he broke a glass- I had JUST woken up and he must've heard me in the bedroom and I didn't let him in fast enough so he broke that. He also breaks plates, figurines, and will dump glasses filled with water or pop or beer- or actually, anything he can get his greedy paw on. The worst though? He broke $500 (2 of them) lampshades that are IRREPLACEABLE- they are original to our house and were over 100 years old.

Sometimes the items don't break, but they usually do. We almost always lock the cats out of the bedroom now at night because he will push ANYTHING and everything off the nightstands and dresser until we yell at him.

Oh you know what else he does? I have to sleep with a fan and use one of those standing fans, not a ceiling fan. I have caught him on several occasions sitting on my nightstand and leaning over with his paw out trying to knock the damn thing down. YES. SERIOUSLY. He has succeeded several times but he usually does it when I'm a foot away from him.

The worst part is that 2 of the other cats have started picking up on his habit... I feel like crying when he does this because the only way to get him to stop is to babysit him and actually hold him. I've tried locking him in a room but it doesn't matter, he knocks things over or chews on the blinds or fights with the other cats. As soon as I give him attention his motor turns on and he purrs like crazy and is a love bug... but I can't do that every single minute of every day.

Hannah chewed up a corner of the wall, leaving little bite marks about a foot high. I have a picture of it, but it must be on my home computer. I guess I'll just cover the tooth marks with paint when we move out and hope our landlord doesn't notice.

One night the bunnies escaped from their cage (ok, ok, I left it open by accident) and had a little fun in the living room - we found one of our remotes with no buttons left the next morning. Why are they so obsessed with the soft rubber buttons?

They've chewed corners off of a number of books, but we're better now about keeping books out of their reach.

Other than that they've been good! Otto's actually extremely good and I would be fine leaving him out 100% of the time. It does take a decent amount of bunny proofing though and we never leave anything on the floor unless it's ok to chew.

I hear you.One of my cats (who,btw,hates me and is in love with my husband)apparently suffers from depression,and craves attention like this tonly,instead of breaking things,he pee everywhere.Like,literally,everywhere.sometimes it takes me a while to discover it,'cause he started to pee in the closet,in the stored bags,inside of furnitures...right now the cats are always in the kitchen,they can't get in the bedroom anymore,and in the rest of the house only when we are with them,but I had to buy a lock to keep them in the kitchen at night and when we are out,'cause my blind one can open the doors.We are in a rental apartment,so other than the fact that it annoys and disgust the hell out of me to discover peed clothes and furniture,there is also the point that if they actually ruin the floor or the walls with pee I have to repay that.
The same cat is also actively trying to kill me,it seems I laugh,but the time he attacked me out of the blue,and left two huge,bloody cratches on my face I was pretty scared.So,if I don't post anymore,is becuase he succesfully destroyed me

I got my kittens last summer and they are almost 1. Since I have had them they destroyed my comforter. One saw it as her personal scratching post. Once she got past that I used it as an excuse to get a new one. I ended up putting softpaws on her just to make sure she is past that stage. And I got a scratching post for that room because I realized just having one in the living room was not enough for her.

My kittens also destroyed a lamp I loved. I came home and it was on lhe floor with the glass lampshade and bulb shattered. One of them liked to chew on towels that were hanging (during her teething period).

In Ocotober, one of my kittens literally chewed and put teethmarks all over my son's school report. We always hear "the dog ate my homework" but in this case the cat chewed it up. My son was running out the door and did not have time to reprint so he grabbed it. Luckily his teacher is a cat lover herself and thought it was funny but also warned him this one time she would not mark him down for him.

I have to put guests shoes in the coat closet because if they are left out my cats love to chew shoelaces.

Unfortunatley one of my girls still likes to chew fabric and paper. I am working to break her habit.

I'm hoping their mischief is kitten energy and now that they are almost 1, they are calming down a bit from when I first got them.

Oh, and hair, hair, hair everywhere. I can't believe how much fur 2 cats produce. I am always vacumming, lint brush rolling, etc. Sometimes I see tumbleweeds of fur. I do brush them often.

Its a good thing they are so sweet and cute so I am willing to put up with them

I almost forgot I have toilet paper issues with my cats. I can't leave toilet paper within their reach. It either has to be on a super high shelf or in the cabinet. My kids know where it is, but when I have guest that go in the bathroom I have to tell them that the tp is in the cabinet. I hope its just a phase. If I forget and leave out the toilet paper, they tear it to shreds.

Ouch on the Coach purse. I have an everyday Coach purse that I love and its not made anymore. I feel your pain there!

My two dogs have never had any serious chewing issues, but my sister's dog.... oh my goodness.

At one point he had destroyed EVERY pair of shoes my grandmother had. I found her sobbing in her bathroom and promptly went out and bought her two new pairs. She keeps her shoes either at the top of her closet or closed in the bathroom now.

He tore the skirting off my couch.

He's destroyed her couch pillows, we've patched and re-sewn like crazy.

He chewed up my litter scoop.

He ate my mom's sunglasses.

He ate the shoe laces off of my Sperry shoe. Now my Sperry's have two different colored laces.

He chewed up a steam iron.

He tore up my grandmother's hand made laundry basket (it's woven).

He's destroyed many dvd's and cd's.

Paper towels, toilet paper, any bathroom garbage, any type of leather, his leash, stuffed animals, socks, hair ties, lip gloss containers, lipstick containers, you name it.

The most recent incident was like the great dane and the wedding cake. I baked a three layer Italian cream cake for book club and it turned out beautifully. While I was out of the room my labbie, Louie, took a huge chunk out of it. I had no choice but to trim and serve it. Everyone loved it.

Thank heavens my dogs have always been fiber and fabric dogs, and they've left my lovely furniture alone (after a good reprimand or two). All three of them have chewed holes through things like lap throws and blankets. They've un-stuffed plenty of pillows leaving poly-fiberfill everywhere. They've chewed the ends off of towels and pillowcases. And my oldest, lovable, otherwise wonderful dog Cassie, has eaten her way through most of my sneakers and summer sandals. If I'm careless enough to leave any of my shoes outside of the patio door, she chews off the entire top of the sneaker or shoe and leaves me the sole as a souvenier. One summer I had absolutely no sneakers, keds, or slip-ons left, and I had to go out and buy a few pair of new summer shoes. Also every puppy we've ever had has eaten the long laces off of my husband's work boots and sneakers.

Every puppy I've ever had has also knocked my Tiffany repro lamp off of an antique oak repro end table in my family room. I'm grateful for the lamp shop down the road because they're great with repairs and I've become pretty nifty at melting wood filler and making furniture look new again.
