What happens to the diamonds if one upgrades through dropshi

For vendors like GOG and WF, they relist the traded in diamonds for sale.

How about dropshippers? Do they trade the traded in diamonds for a new one? Meaning it goes back to cutter/supplier/whoever is the person in line before the dropshipper?
