I've just pulled out a pair of round pink diamonds .24ct each from a 20yr old ring and am wondering whether they are natural or enhanced

One has a few black inclusions. Is this a sign that they haven't been enhanced?
;)

Given the amount of inclusions I've seen in irradiated blues, I don't think the inclusions are affected by the enhancement if the diamond was irradiated and annealed to make it pink. They've been irradiating diamonds for more than 20 years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond_enhancement#Irradiation

Does anyone know when pink diamonds started being created through treatments? I guess the ring is 20+ yrs old.

It should be pretty easy to tell the difference if you look at the UV fluorescence http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0925963508002355

A local university should be able to check for you (Probably the physics department?) if you don't want to send them to GIA for grading.
Bring em' the article and the stones and let them do their magic. (Flash the stone with UV and see what colors the stone reflects back, measure the reflected light with a precision sensor, compare the sensor numbers with those listed in the article).

Very cool article on the history of diamond color treatments: http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j...lNUp-kIjW8dMN9w&bvm=bv.76180860,d.cGE&cad=rja
