Is there a summer break for webinars and I missed the memo? Wasn''t there a "This week''s shows" thread pinned to the top of RT before? I guess I''ll have to go watch the recorded ones....

Both John and I were just talking earlier today and we plan to do a recorded one on one session and post it for you all to see the advantages of working in one on one sessions with your vendors.

Both of us have been very busy and also both of us are a little perplexed.

We work hard to come up with interesting programs and even ask what you would like to see, but the number of people who come to the sessions is greatly reduced from earlier numbers.

We are wondering why?

Both of us are planning to be back up and broadcasting next week. Feed back as to what you want to see and when you want to see it is welcomed by both of us.

Well I can explain my absence.... my kids are out of school. Actually there are two things. One is there is no sticky at the top of RT that has a schedule.... but also before when the kids were in school I knew as soon as we got home there was someone there and sometimes the hour prior to that... it worked out well. Now chaos rules and often during the day I''m just gone.

As for me, I have slow-mo connection at home, so I just can''t use my home internet, so no evenings and weekend sessions for me. To attend the webinars, it has to be during work hours Eastern time.

Thanks for replying Wink.

I am among those guilty of watching as a lurker and not giving back. And of forgeting if there isn''t a thread about what''s on. I''m at work during WinkTV (bad me) and I''m not always in a position to participate, but I do always learn something. I also can''t type, so it takes a long time for me to formulate a reply with all the works spelled almost correctly and in the right order.

I would guess that summer time has a lot to do with the general lack of attendance.

Personally I would love to learn more about fancy cuts, both for diamonds and gemstones. I would also love to see themed shows, even if short, about specific gemstones with info on where they come from, common cuts etc. like "anything amythest" "Beryl is best" "everything emerald" or "Road show of rubies".

If you guys need a break, then please, take one!

But know that some of us miss you.

I dont know if you guys are the right folks to ask this but...I think with the recent spate of old cuts, I know I''d love to see a webinar with an old cuts expert joining in (?Dave Atlas & Richard Sherwood among others perhaps?), to discuss issues such as very thin girdles and how best to deal with that. For example, there''s been recent discussion amongst some of the old cut owners about what to do with our thin girdles (not the one''s we dont wear, the ones on our stones!). Do we have them re-polished to even them out a touch so they''re not as fragile? Do we re-set them for better protection and if so, which settings are less likely to chip a thin girdle? Do we leave them alone and let the chips fall where they may? There has been enough conversations about this issue alone that it would make for a good webinar I think.

Also, how to buy an old cut? Things like that? I know I''d attend any webinar that had old cut issues as its focus!

Thanks for listening...

^^^

I would also love that, to see older cuts next to modern cuts.

I''m also interested in how some of the grading equiptment works, though that may have been covered by WF; I never catch the WF shows live, and I''ve gotten lazy about the recorded ones because you can''t fast forward.

For me it''s the timing. It''s during the work day and I can''t watch then. I do like the recorded ones and watch those when I get home.

Another thing I''m interested in is how it is determined what shape a rough gets cut into and at what point is that decision made. Sort of "the life of a diamond" from rough to finished product.

I work during the day and live on the west coast so the timing does not work for me to watch the webinars live. I enjoy watching the recorded sessions. I realize it is difficult to make a presentation without interaction and questions. Maybe a poll to see what time folks are most available to view a webinar would help the ''attendance''?

I particularly enjoyed the new Vatche settings webinar that Wink did recently. Would love to see more settings shown. A still photo on a website doesn''t always capture all the details that PSers want to see. I see many questons about Whiteflash settings posted. Perhaps a Whiteflash setting session? More Vatche settings from Wink?

I also love and own older cut diamonds and would enjoy anything about them that can be shared.

Most of all, THANKS for informing us!

And there you have it. John and I will resume presentations at a date to be determined, probably in Sept or so. You can still schedule private presentations with us if you have something you want to see, but please understand that this will be for people interested in making a purchase.

I''ll speak for myself first.......because most of them are held during my business day, and it''s just not feasible for me to participate at those times. I''d *LIKE* to attend more of them, but it''s just not possible if they''re going to continue being at 4pm daily. I know there''s not much you can do about this (you need to have a life too), but you gotta understand that folks gotta work to pay for these pet rocks!

Another difficulty? Not knowing when sessions will be. If you''re "this week''s presentations" thread isn''t right on top, I often don''t see it, so unless I happen upon it, I''m not aware of times. I think this had been mentioned by a few of us, and I seem to recall Leonid saying that a ''calendar of events'' was going to materialize for this, which hasn''t happened.

I''d again suggest to Andrey that it would be easier to add a link called "PS Presentations" that display the current month and show the times/presentations. This way, I could easily find the calendar and see if there are presentations for that day when I come on. Posting the info to a thread just isn''t intuitive.....I don''t want to have to pick through various posts in the thread to find out when presentations are.

Those are my issues. I''m guessing that it was mostly stay-at-homes who were able to attend for the day sessions, and I''m guessing that family summer schedules are impacting that (kids out of school, more out-of-doors time, vacations, etc.).

I always tried to watch Wink's presentations, but being in the UK maybe it was easier, it was on at 11pm over here. I second Surfgirl, I would like to see a webinar on old cuts, I do not intend to buy one but I am interested in seeing them and hearing all about them.

And as I am an early bird for bed normally, the times could be tricky for me! But Wink and all those who create these webinars, what you do is very much appreciated and I hope to be able to catch more in the future.

Thank you all for your comments. Leonid and I talked about the need for better promotion the other day and I suspect it is one of the issues we will talk about as we try to determine how to bring back the communicator.

I would love to see the schedule of events and the recorded sessions available right from the front page. Let''s wait and see what works out with the new ownership, and hopefully we will be able to bring you a product that is even better than what we had before.
