What goes well with red side stones?

I have a pair of crimson red anthill garnets that I love that are 4mm, that I want to set. Alas, I don't wear earrings so I thought they could be side stones in a ring. But then I have the conundrum of what a good center stone color should be? Any suggestions or photos?

I have no pictures to suggest, but love red and white (and have relatively conservative color mixing taste). But did need to say that I thought this said "I have the corundum of what a good center stone color would be".

I like red/white as well. I have a pair of 5mm anthill garnets that I thought I'd save to set with a diamond center someday.

I thought immediately red/white too..are we boring? What about blue?

Novel-ha, I did too! I had to read it thru a couple times b/c it didn't make sense to me!

Bahaha, you guys are too funny.

Everything goes with red!!

Depends on the look you want. Do you want bold? Christmassy? Go with green.

You want springy? go with pink.

You want something thats kinda out there? Orange or vivid yellow

Then there's kinda out there like violet and red or safe as in blue and red.

or really safe with white and red.

There's lots of options, you're only limited by your imagination.

What about champagne and red? Or would that play on brown common tones?

Can we see the garnets?

Lemon Yellow  or a different yellow with complimenting undertones

How about a richly colored amethyst? Or one of the hot purple sapphires?

You know, gold and red is one of my favorite combos...I guess I'll be keeping an eye out for a nice saturated gold stone!

I would post pics of the anthill garnets, but they've defied most of my past attempts at photography. Sigh. If I ever get a good photos of them though, I"ll be sure to post them!

I found some pics from DBL of red side stones with yellow. I don't know if I particularly like it but there is a lot of BLING in the settings.
Do you ever feel peevish or wanna be a rock star? How about a Bespoke black spinel with two red side stones. I bought the matched 7mm pair of black spinels he had for sale and they are really pretty.

I have a pair of Richard Homer rubies that are waiting for the right center stone. A yellow diamond would be excellent. I've also considered a nice deep purple Zambian amethyst with red and blue flashes. Purple and red would be stunning.

I love combining red with aqua-- they're the colors in my dining room.
This center stone is a garnet I bought from Uli last summer and the side stones are blue zircon from Gene. It will be a ring... eventually!

That's so funny - those are almost the exact colors I bought to paint this little cabinet I have. I've had the paint about 4 years now and have never got around to painting the dang thing. <sigh> I'm bad with projects.

Anything that is light in color. Anthill garnets are beautiful but dark and saturated, I'd say, "intense". So the central stone should be light. Even a moonstone would work, but a sapphire, or a saturated red spinel, or an emerald would not. Just my opinion and I may be totally wrong but I have two anthill garnets and have tried different color combinations.

Moonstone! moonstone, moonstone, moonstone.

I'm actually really liking the black spinel idea. It's kind of edgy. Or for a completely opposite look, I like light aqua/moonstone. Maybe opal?

Anthill garnets, while can be a rich red, also tends to be quite dark. To balance the overall effect, I think that something light like white, pale pink, pale yellow or even pale blue and the like will be a good combination.
