I see the term used but can't find a definition of what, exactly, BGD's signature melee is? When showing pictures of their jewelry that they use the signature melee in, it always shows at least one diamond with arrows.... So does that mean that their signature melee is "hearts and arrows" cut?

It is my understanding that they are stones that are not graded by a lab because they are under .30 carats, but do meet BGD standards of being his signature series, hearts and arrows. Putting it another way, if he had a .20 carat stone for example and sent it to AGS lab, it would meet his standards of being a signature cut. I have been told that it does not make financial sense to send stones smaller than .30 out for grading due to final pricing.

Yes, as far as I know.

One thing I can tell you, unlike ACA melee, BG Signature melee includes both fluorescent and non-fluorescent stones.

The ACA melee is non-fluorescent stones only.

Not true..I bought a 3ctw bangle bracelet from WF and there are few stone out of the 18 with fluorescence.

yes all the signature melee are cut to the H&A standard and all so sparkly compare to those setting with stone that is so lifeless.

They may have changed the policy since you purchased the bracelet:

http://www.whiteflash.com/about-diamonds/diamond-education/a-cut-above-hearts-and-arrows-diamond-melee-938.htm

"A CUT ABOVE® Melee are clean and white (F-G color, VS clarity), and non-fluorescent."

Hmmm, That could the case b/c this was a about 2 yrs ago. I have not check for fluorescent on the two bracelets that I purchased from BGD.

RR, that's good to know about the ACA melee. Thanks! :)
