Zachscott:

You should not have to pay for a SARIN report if you buy from a reputable vendor.

Good online diamond vendors have the Sarin information readily available for buyers. If you are dealing locally, and your seller doesn't have the Sarin report, there may be fee involved. Your seller may have to send the diamond to someone across town who will charge for the analysis. In that case, the fee will probably only be $10. Unless you are asking for a Sarin on several diamonds, your seller should not charge you for a report he/she will own and can use if you decide not to purchase. If you don't live where the Sarin can be run in town, shipping charges may be added. Shipping, round trip, should add about $50 total, and again, the seller would still have to information to use if you decide not to purchase.

Personally, after finding Price Scope, I feel like a Sarin Report is just like quality contol on any product you buy. You don't pay the lab directly to test the foods, car, clothes, etc., that you buy. Product development and quality control costs are figured into the price of the goods you buy elsewhere. You don't pay the cutter directly for his/her services, so why pay for cut quality control seperately.

Just my $0.02 worth.

You mean that we're supposed to be charging for the Sarin / OGI computerized proportions analysis?!?! Oh man, we've been blowing it and giving it away all these years

The person who we purchased the diamond from had a Sarin report run for us before we purchased it. There was no separate cost for this... I'm sure the cost of this is well covered in the purchase price :)

We did have the loose diamond appraised separately after purchase just to be sure everything checked out, and piece of mind. A Sarin report was included in the price of the appraisal.
