Hey guys,

I am a lurker who has learned alot while following the PS boards. I recently bought a diamond and am currently waiting for it to arrive.

It is a 2.17 RB VG Cut I SI1 VG Sym VG Polish. It has a GIA cert. The table is 60%, depth 60.2%, 33.5 crown angle and 40.8 pavillion angle. It scores 1.6 on HCA and falls within the overlap of the GIA Excellent and AGS Ideal outlines.

Although I should be excited, I find myself feeling that the price ($13,556) was too good to be true and that there must be something wrong with it. I have been on pins and needles waiting for it to arrive but wanted to see if anyone thought this deal is too good to be true.

Thanks for any input.
Jess

Is it from a reliable vendor? That's the best way to make sure it's not "too good to be true". But something does sound off with it...

And I'm not sure why it gets a GIA cut grading of "VG" but falls into the "Excellent" category on the HCA. Weird.

It is from Blue Nile.

Probably it is the rounding of Pavilion angle in GIA''s report. Looks like a borderline HCA case tending towards low pavilion angle. This combination could result in some darkening of the stone when viewed close-up due to head blocking of reflected light source, but normal viewing conditions should still perform well.

Price wise, with a VG in Cut, Symm and Polish combinations, looks like a possible outcome. You probably have a steal.

Bluenile is reputable in the sense that it''s not a "bait and switch" or something like that. I wouldn''t worry until you see it, it has the possibility of being very nice! It''s also possible that it''s not eyeclean which would reduce the price as well.
