Well...to be honest the extremely thin part of the girdle might worry me. What kind of setting are you planning on?

And a K color in an x-factor is going to have some color to it, more than a "K" round, so you need to be ok with that.

I think you got a beautiful stone for a great price!!

Not lovin' the girdle one bit.

Also, a K is would be too tinted for me. WF does have a great return policy though so if you think the color won't bother you, you can always get it and see it in person then decide for yourself.

Have you asked if it is eye clean?

I''m definitely not liking the girdle either. Ext thin girdles worry me for durability reasons and I also don''t like too much variation in the girdle. A K stone in a non-round will definitely show some warmth. I also wish the picture wasn''t tilted, so I could get a better look at the stone. In general, it does look like a pretty stone for the money, that is pretty large as well. If it were me personally, I''d go up to an I in color and drop to a .8.

thanks to all who posted. i''m not concerned about the k color. all i see in 1 carat diamonds here is j or k color, and i cant personally tell the difference unless someone with a high color would hold them side by side. not sure what i think about girdle, just wanted best quality that budget would allow. i wanted a larger stone that was cut well and had a very small budget. i really wanted a princess but was concerned about the corners and having diamond set by local b&m. i would die if they broke the diamond. then i found the xfactor with the cut corners. this one looked perfect to me, minding budget that bf has set in stone. i liked that leslie from whiteflash helped me with setting, four prong tiffany to stay within budget and keep smile on bf''s face (for now). i like that whiteflash has that lifetime upgrade also, so if i''m not in love with it, i can get something else. anyway, looked ok to me, i''d be happy with just about anything bf would put on my finger, even a cracker jack box ring.

All I would say then is: Enjoy it and BUY INSURANCE!!!

Enjoy your stone and I would definitely recommend having WF set the stone. In case something were to happen, they would take responsibility for it. Also, definitely purchase insurance for the ring. It''s a good idea for anyone, because theft, loss, and damage do ocassionally happen. Insurance will give you peace of mind!

btw: i live in a very small town in ohio. most of my friends haven''t even seen a 1 carat ring before, less own one. where would i buy insurance? should i since it is si1, k colored?

You would buy insurance because as we have all warned you the girdle is uncomfortably thin. We wouldn''t have mentioned it if it weren''t a problem-and it is. It means that the stone is prone to chipping, and even everyday wear can sometimes chip diamonds. If it chips, it could fall out of the setting, and without insurance you would be up s**t creek!

The stats don''t matter. The question is, if you lost, broke,or chipped the diamond, could you comfortably pay to replace it? Since we know the answer is no based on your "small budget" issue, you should def. insure.

You can buy a policy online from Jewelers Mutual or you can often add a jewelry rider to your renters or homeowners insurance.

Chubb and jewelers mutual are the big names for jewelry insurance. It's pretty easy, you can just send in your appraisal from WF and then pay a small premium each year. It will probably be a small premium from around 1-2% for ohio, definitely worth getting it insured!!!

By the way, you can do most of this online. You can get a policy from jewelers mutual on their website, it's really easy with the instructions on their site.

Whiteflash has a relationship with Touchstone, who sells Chubb and GemShield, I believe. I bought my Chubb policy through them and it was very easy. It''s DEFINITELY worth getting- you can figure around $1 (ish) for every $100 in value...so for a $3000 ring you''re looking at around $30 per year. Not much to pay for peace of mind...

looked @ insurance, for total price of ring, it would only cost 25 dollars a year. i will definitely do that... thanks! not a bad price for a big purchase, well for some, i guess...

Just wanted to re-emphasize the insurance. Thankfully insurance just paid to replace my ring-----chipped the "extremely thin" girdle on my 1.52ct princess cut diamond........I am pretty much a bull in a china cabinet so it''s not a huge shock to me that after smacking that ring 100 times through the last 5 years one blow finally caused damage.......but I do worry about extremely thin girdles now.....
Get it, see how you like it, go from there. WF is wonderful and will make sure you are happy in the end.

have any of u seen pics of k princess diamonds on here?

No, but I have seen some non-GIA or AGS H/I princesses in person, which are probably close to a J in GIA terms and I did notice color. I'm sensitive to color though, but if possible, make sure you can see the stone before your BF proposes to make SURE you're ok with the color. It could be pretty apparent...or it could be totally fine to you. It's your call.

thanks. i will ask bf to show me to make sure i like it.

Your stone is almost a carat and $2100. That is a nice stone in keeping with your budget. If you are working with WF you ought to ask them what settings they recommend to protect your girdle from chipping. See what they recommend as far as placement goes for the delicate side/corner. And do have them set it!

i talked with whiteflash, not about girdle, but i''m having it set in a four prong tiffany, it was the cheapest they had, which i am ok with. talked with bf tonight about it, and have decided to take advice and get insurance, just in case disaster strikes. i decided it would be cheaper to let them set the stone than go to local b&m to have them break it. bf is proud of me for budget, but did say, "i wish you could have spent less" i am ecstatic that this is finally coming together for me and bf is ok with it also, i guess that is the main issue, huh. i just wanted a beautiful diamond that i would be happy with, looking down @ it from time to time, to bring a smile to my face when bf is away (he''s a truck driver, i''ve only seen him a couple times this month) and know i did a decent job picking it out, cuz he worked really hard for the past 2 months for it. and last but not least, be proud for what it is. i know there are better rings here on pricescope, but that didn''t matter to me, we got what we could afford.

The X-Factor has different girdle characteristics as a by-product of its cutting:The corners on a princess cut taper. When you clip them off those places are naturally reported as thicker than the norm.In some cases the process also produces an ex-thin spot on the girdle. As we know, any diamond with an average of v-thin or ex-thin may best be avoided, but if it’s listed as a minimum it is worth pursuing specifics, especially if a proprietary cut like this one: When that point is a single spot that is not vulnerable it's not so much a concern. We're happy to discuss the specifics of any diamond with clients.

Congratulations on your purchase!!! It is going to be more beautiful than 99.99% of the diamonds you are going to see out there! People here on ps get a little nit picky, but it will seriously be gorgeous. I hope you come back with some pictures of the ring on your hand!!!
